In the heart of the Tuscan summer, Cascina becomes one of the most beloved stops of the Musicastrada Festival, the widespread itinerant festival that has been crossing the villages of the province of Pisa for nearly thirty years. Promoted by the Musicastrada Association, it is considered a unique boutique festival in Italy: music is not consumed in a large, anonymous space, but becomes a shared experience in extraordinary, limited-capacity locations, at sunset or by night, in an atmosphere where the distance between performer and listener vanishes.

The Cascina stop takes place in the hamlet of San Casciano, in front of the Pieve dei SS. MM. Ippolito e Cassiano, one of the most important Romanesque parish churches in the Pisan territory, in the Municipality of Cascina, in the Province of Pisa. The stone and marble facade of the church, with its refined inlays, serves as a natural backdrop for the stage: this is precisely the encounter between listening, landscape, and heritage that defines Musicastrada. Cascina, an ancient fortified village on the Via Tosco-Romagnola between Pisa and Pontedera, has accompanied the festival for years with one of its most anticipated evenings.

The 2026 edition: Bobo Rondelli meets I Gatti Mézzi

For the 27th edition of the festival, scheduled from July 10 to August 2, 2026, Cascina hosts a unique musical encounter on Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 PM: Bobo Rondelli, one of the most beloved and ironic singer-songwriters on the Italian scene, takes the stage alongside I Gatti Mézzi, a Pisan duo known for their biting and poetic songwriting in the local dialect. It is a clash between two neighboring and rival cities, Livorno and Pisa, united by the same vein of irony, irreverence, and poetry. A concert designed specifically for the festival, away from large tours, in the most authentic spirit of Musicastrada.

A festival that also looks to social issues

Musicastrada is not just about music and landscape. The 2026 edition relaunches the "suspended ticket" project, carried out in collaboration with the Arnera Social Cooperative of Pontedera: those who wish can purchase an extra ticket, left available for those who cannot afford one, so that culture may be increasingly accessible and inclusive. The festival, spread across a dozen municipalities in the province of Pisa, is supported by the Tuscany Region and the Ministry of Culture, among others, and in its stops, it also promotes local products and craft breweries.
