Author music at altitude opens the season in Champ-Mort
Musicastelle Outdoor is the festival promoted by the Valle d'Aosta Regional Tourism Office that offers concerts by Italian artists in naturally beautiful locations, reachable on foot with short hikes. Born in 2012, it is a unique format on the national scene: no traditional stages, but high-altitude meadows, alpine lakes, and clearings where music blends with the silence of the mountains.
In Doues, a small municipality in the Gran San Bernardo valley in the province of Aosta, the concert is held in the Champ-Mort area, at an altitude of approximately 1,280 metres at the foot of the Grand Combin. To reach the location, the audience undertakes a walk of about twenty minutes, an integral part of the experience: the concert rewards those who choose to walk up, immersing themselves in the alpine landscape.
Like all Musicastelle events, the Doues date is also free admission upon reservation. Priority is given to those who book a stay in the festival locations via the official website; remaining spots are distributed on Eventbrite starting the week of the concert. Capacity limits and incentives for car-pooling protect safety, the quality of the experience, and the environment. A formula that combines music, slow tourism, and the enhancement of the Valle d'Aosta Region's territory.
The 2026 edition of Musicastelle Outdoor celebrates the festival's 15th anniversary with six free high-altitude concerts. The opening concert is in Doues, on Saturday, June 6, in the Champ-Mort area (1,280 m): the singer-songwriter Joan Thiele is the headliner, starting at 3:00 PM, with access on foot via a walk of about twenty minutes (130 m elevation gain). The concert will include sign language interpretation (LIS). Admission is free upon reservation.
All concerts are free admission upon reservation. Priority for those booking a stay in the locations; remaining tickets on Eventbrite. Full programme on musicastellevda.it.
