An open-air concert by the Castelbello brass band, featuring movie soundtracks, musicals, and pop-rock rhythms.
The Musical & Film Klangfeuerwerk der Musikkapelle Kastelbell is the most anticipated summer event hosted by the brass band (Musikkapelle) of Castelbello, in the municipality of Castelbello-Ciardes/Kastelbell-Tschars, in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-South Tyrol. The concert takes place outdoors at the village Musikpavillon, in the heart of the lower Vinschgau Valley, about twenty kilometers from Merano.
The German title, which literally translates to "musical and film sonic fireworks," perfectly captures the spirit of the evening: a spectacular program built around movie soundtracks, famous musical themes, and major pop and rock hits, all rearranged in the traditional style of Alpine brass music. It is a brilliant way to bridge the tradition of South Tyrolean brass bands with modern sounds and rhythms known to a wide audience.
More than just a concert, the Klangfeuerwerk is a true village festival. The audience gathers at the music pavilion for an evening of great music, a convivial atmosphere, and fun, with food and drinks available to accompany the performance. The event is designed for anyone who loves live music and wants to share a pleasant evening in the open air, in one of the most picturesque valleys of South Tyrol.
The star of the event is the Musikkapelle Kastelbell, a brass band deeply rooted in the cultural and social life of the Vinschgau community. Brass bands are a vital part of South Tyrolean identity, present in every village and involved in all major civil and religious celebrations. The summer concert at the pavilion is one of the moments where the band showcases its work with a lighter, more spectacular repertoire compared to their official appearances.
The concert is held in the setting of the lower Vinschgau Valley, amidst orchards, chestnut groves, and the mountain profiles surrounding Castelbello. The area, dominated by the historic Castelbell Castle above the Adige river, is a popular destination for hiking and cycling along the Vinschgau cycle path, making the musical evening a perfect addition to a summer holiday in South Tyrol. For some editions, booking is required: we recommend checking details and times with the Castelbello-Ciardes tourist office or the band's social media channels.
The Musical & Film Klangfeuerwerk returns on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Musikpavillon in Castelbello. For this edition, the outdoor stage will feature both of the municipality's brass bands, the Musikkapelle Kastelbell and the Musikkapelle Tschars (Ciardes), performing a program of pop and rock songs with catchy rhythms and modern sounds. The evening is accompanied by food and drinks and a festive atmosphere, the ideal meeting point for live music lovers. Booking is required; the detailed program will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
