The free concert series in San Maurizio Canavese
The name says it all: Musicae Donum, meaning "the gift of music." This is the spirit of the concert series that brings life to San Maurizio Canavese—a town in the northern outskirts of Turin, in the heart of the Piedmontese Canavese—every year between spring and late summer. It is a cultural program that is entirely free of charge, designed to bring people closer to music in the town's most cherished and evocative locations.
The series is born from the commitment of the CSMC BiblioPan Foundation—an organization that unites the Canavese Musical Study Center and the Flauto di Pan music school—in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of San Maurizio Canavese. Reaching its sixth edition in 2026, Musicae Donum has established itself as one of the most anticipated events in the local cultural calendar.
What makes Musicae Donum special is the relationship between the music and the spaces that host it. Concerts are not held in a single hall, but move between the community's symbolic landmarks:
The series builds a deliberately diverse lineup, capable of speaking to a wide audience: from choral projects with children to youth ensembles, from sacred music to pop and jazz repertoires, and even musical theater and family recitals. Each concert is an opportunity for connection, in line with the Foundation's vocation to make music a tool for growth and community.
For those visiting the Canavese and the province of Turin, Musicae Donum is also an opportunity to discover San Maurizio Canavese away from the main tourist circuits: quality music, free admission, and the authentic atmosphere of a Piedmontese village that treats culture as a shared asset.
San Maurizio Canavese is located about 20 km north of Turin. By car, it can be reached via the SP13 or the Turin ring road (tangenziale) in the direction of Caselle/Ciriè. All Musicae Donum concerts are free of charge. In some cases, booking is recommended for venues with limited capacity.
