An evening concert series featuring jazz, choral music, and international guests in the village of Camugliano
Musica in Camugliano is the concert series that brings great music every summer to the small village of Camugliano, in the municipality of Ponsacco, in the province of Pisa. The heart of the event is the Church of San Frediano and its adjacent square, an intimate and evocative setting where music dialogues with local traditions and the rolling hills of the Valdera.
The festival is organized by the Amici della Musica Association with the support of the Municipality of Ponsacco. The calendar is designed to offer a journey through different genres and styles: from jazz performed by local ensembles to choral music, and from Italian singer-songwriter classics to international guests. Recurring highlights include the Ponsacco Jazz Orchestra in its various configurations, the Nuvole di Voci choir, and youth orchestras invited from overseas, reflecting a vocation that blends local roots with an international perspective.
One of the most appreciated features of Musica in Camugliano is its ability to bridge diverse styles: alongside jazz concerts and tributes to great Italian music, the program includes choral performances, readings, and pieces inspired by Tuscan folk culture, as well as homages to iconic figures like Pinocchio, who was born in these very Pisan lands. The evenings are often accompanied by social gatherings, offering the chance to dine or enjoy local products.
The village of Camugliano is best known for its imposing Estate and the Medici villa that overlooks the surrounding hills. Attending a concert in this corner of the Valdera means discovering a more authentic and secluded side of the Pisan territory, far from the main tourist circuits. For those visiting Tuscany, Musica in Camugliano is a wonderful opportunity to experience the Ponsacco summer through quality music, hospitality, and village charm.
The 2026 edition of Musica in Camugliano consists of three evenings in the village of Camugliano, in Ponsacco (PI), organized by the Amici della Musica Association with the support of the Municipality. The program alternates between jazz, choral music, international repertoire, and tributes to great Italian singer-songwriters.
Under the Camugliano Sky, in the square of the Church of San Frediano. On stage: the Ponsacco Jazz Orchestra Trio, the duo Quelli di Porta Pisana, and the Nuvole di Voci choir directed by Elisa Pucci. The program also includes readings and pieces dedicated to Pinocchio, blending music, popular culture, and local tradition.
The Mountain Top String Orchestra of California performs in the Church of San Frediano. This youth ensemble (musicians aged 13 to 17) from Southern California, directed by Sharon Rizzo, presents a repertoire ranging from classical music and light rock to Latin American rhythms.
Closing evening with a tribute to Gino Paoli and Ornella Vanoni, performed by the Ponsacco Jazz Orchestra 7th and the Art Orchestra Project, directed by Maestro Davide Bertini, with special guests Michela Lombardi and Giacomo Riggi.
Concerts are held at the Church and square of San Frediano, in the village of Camugliano, Municipality of Ponsacco (PI).
