The festival of emerging singer-songwriters dedicated to Gianni Bella
The Musica Bella Festival is a musical event that transforms Piazza Mazzini in Montechiarugolo, in the province of Parma, into the stage for young talents of Italian songwriting every summer. Created to celebrate the figure of the great composer and singer-songwriter Gianni Bella, author of some of the most beautiful pages of Italian pop music, the festival is a competition dedicated to emerging singers, singer-songwriters, performers, bands, and musicians residing throughout Italy.
The festival was conceived by Chiara Bella, the composer's daughter, together with vocal coach and vocalist Emanuela Cortesi. It is organized by the Municipality of Montechiarugolo in collaboration with Nuova Gente and Montecristo APS, and in just a few years has established itself as one of the most anticipated events of the summer in the province of Parma and the Emilia-Romagna region. Hosting and artistic direction are entrusted to Riccardo Benini along with Chiara Bella herself.
Each year, an artistic committee selects a shortlist of finalists from the numerous applications received. The chosen artists perform live in Piazza Mazzini, accompanied by Gianni Bella's official band directed by Rosario Bella: a rare opportunity for young performers, who can sing backed by top-level professional musicians. The winner receives a cash prize of 1,000 euros, presented in many editions by Gianni Bella himself, as well as special awards for the best original lyrics and best performance.
Alongside the competition, the festival annually features the presence of special guests from the Italian music scene, making the evening a true spectacle open to the public. In past editions, names like Mogol, Mario Biondi, Silvia Mezzanotte, Maurizio Vandelli, and Marco Ferradini have graced the stage. Admission is free, and the event is part of the weekend of the Notte Celeste, the widespread event celebrating the thermal baths and well-being of Emilia-Romagna.
Montechiarugolo, dominated by its splendid medieval castle overlooking the Enza stream, is part of the association of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. Attending the Musica Bella Festival means experiencing an evening of author music in a setting rich in history and tradition, just a few kilometers from Parma, the Italian capital of culture and gastronomy.
The fourth edition of the Musica Bella Festival is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2026, in Piazza Mazzini in Montechiarugolo (Parma). As tradition dictates, an artistic committee will choose ten artists from the applications of singers, singer-songwriters, performers, bands, and musicians from all over Italy: the finalists will perform live accompanied by Gianni Bella's official band, directed by Rosario Bella.
The special guest already announced is Rettore, one of the most innovative and original artists in Italian music. The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of 1,000 euros. The evening, with free admission, is part of the Notte Celeste weekend (June 26-28, 2026). The event is organized by the Municipality of Montechiarugolo with Nuova Gente and Montecristo APS, conceived by Chiara Bella and Emanuela Cortesi. The full list of the ten finalists in the competition will be announced by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event.
Single evening on Friday, June 26, 2026, in Piazza Mazzini, Montechiarugolo.
The nominative list of the ten finalists will be published by the organizers before the event.
