About Music on the Street

Music on the Street is a widespread music festival that brings the streets of Laives/Leifers, in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige, to life. Organized by the South Tyrol Musicians Association (Südtiroler Musikerbund), the event turns Via Kennedy, Via Pietralba, and the new town square into an open-air stage, with live performances scattered throughout the city's streets and corners. It is one of the three "long Saturdays" that mark the summer calendar of LaivEstate/LeiferSommer, offering an afternoon and evening of free music open to everyone.

Music on the Street: music takes over the streets of Laives

Music on the Street is a widespread music festival that brings live music to the streets of the center of Laives/Leifers, a town in the province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The idea behind the event is simple and engaging: instead of concentrating performances on a single stage, music spreads throughout the city, occupying sidewalks, intersections, and squares, offering residents and visitors an itinerant and informal experience.

A widespread event across streets and squares

Performances are distributed along Via Kennedy, Via Pietralba (Weißensteinerstraße), and the new town square, the renovated heart of city life. Walking from one point to another, the public encounters different bands and musicians in a festive atmosphere that mixes genres and styles, engaging all ages. The "widespread" formula makes Music on the Street not just a concert, but a true gathering opportunity for the community.

The South Tyrol Musicians Association

The event is organized by the South Tyrol Musicians Association (in German Südtiroler Musikerbund), a bilingual organization that brings together and promotes musicians from the South Tyrolean region. The choice to bring music to the streets reflects the association's commitment to making musical art accessible and close to people, outside of conventional spaces.

One of the "long Saturdays" of LaivEstate

Music on the Street is part of the rich summer program of the Municipality of Laives, LaivEstate/LeiferSommer, which offers around fifty events between June and September, including music, sports, art, culture, and major popular events. In particular, the festival is one of the three "long Saturdays" (lange Samstage) that form the backbone of the program, along with the "Millenium" concert dedicated to the hits of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, and the Sports Festival that closes the season.

A free event for the whole family

Admission is free, and the event is designed to be enjoyed freely while strolling through the town center. Music on the Street represents a different way to experience summer in Laives: music as a social glue, capable of animating urban spaces and bringing together the two linguistic communities of the South Tyrolean city.

Music on the Street — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Music on the Street, the second of the event, is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Laives/Leifers. The widespread music festival, organized by the South Tyrol Musicians Association (Südtiroler Musikerbund), will animate Via Kennedy, Via Pietralba, and the new town square with live performances spread throughout the city. The event kicks off the series of three "long Saturdays" of LaivEstate/LeiferSommer 2026.

Music on the Street 2026: the second edition

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the widespread music festival Music on the Street returns to Laives/Leifers for its second edition. The event, organized by the South Tyrol Musicians Association (Südtiroler Musikerbund), brings live music along Via Kennedy, Via Pietralba, and the new town square, transforming the city center into an open-air stage.

The event opens the series of three "long Saturdays" of the LaivEstate/LeiferSommer 2026 summer program, which continues with the "Millenium" concert dedicated to the 80s, 90s, and 2000s (August 8) and the Sports Festival (September 5). Admission is free.

The detailed program with times and participating groups has not yet been fully published: it will be released by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event through the channels of the Municipality of Laives and LaivEstate/LeiferSommer.
