Chestnut Autumn in Tarzo
The Colmaggiore Chestnut Festival is the event that celebrates the chestnuts from the Colmaggiore hamlet of Tarzo (province of Treviso) and the surrounding hills. Traditionally held on the first three Sundays of October, the festival plays a leading role in the gastronomic calendar of the Alta Marca Trevigiana and is part of the 'Autumn Delights' circuit.
Chestnuts and Autumn Cuisine
Chestnuts from local producers are cooked on a giant pan and offered roasted, as well as in soups and artisanal desserts. The Pro Loco Tarzo's gastronomic stand, located in the spacious multipurpose center on Via Cesare Battisti, offers seasonal specialties alongside the chestnuts: grilled dishes, polenta, wild boar, roe deer, and spit-roasted meats.
Walks, Murals, and Activities
The festival is also an opportunity to discover the area: walks through chestnut groves and guided tours along the picturesque Via dei Murales (Street of Murals), markets of typical products, dance school performances, and educational workshops and shows for children on Sunday afternoons. A weekend of celebration that combines taste, nature, and community on the hills of Tarzo.
