The World Championship of Museto in Riese Pio X
The Museto Festival is the most distinctive gastronomic event in Riese Pio X, in the province of Treviso. Museto is a traditional cured meat from Northern Italy, similar to cotechino, made with pig's snout meat stuffed with rind and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and pepper: a winter table dish, linked to the traditional peasant "maialata" (pig slaughter).
The heart of the festival is the World Museto Championship, where competing pork butchers present their recipes for judgment by the Ingorda Confraternita del Museto, led by the Gran Norcino (Head Butcher). The competition has seen a record number of participants, coming from four regions — Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Lombardy — and about ten provinces, following a series of regional pre-selections (Friulian championship, Trentino championship, and others).
The final and award ceremony take place on the feast day of Saint Anthony Abbot (January 17th), patron saint of farm animals, with a grand dinner-show at Casa Riese that brings together over three hundred people for tastings, music, and awards.
The Museto Festival is the flagship event of Porcomondo!, the "suin generis" food and wine festival dedicated to the world of the pig: a calendar of about fifteen events including tastings, competitions, conferences, and meetings that have promoted the culture of food and the territory of the Marca Trevigiana for years.
The 2026 edition of the Museto Festival — the eighth festival and fifth World Museto Championship — took place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Casa Riese, in Riese Pio X.
For the first time, the number of participants reached a record of 75 pork butchers, coming from four regions (Veneto, Lombardy, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige) and ten provinces. The competition was preceded by regional pre-selections: the Friulian championship (won by Gianpietro Pasut) and the Trentino championship on January 11th in Albiano (won by Azienda Agricola Le Mandre of Bedollo). Defending the title, after two consecutive victories, was the reigning champion Davide Mion from the locanda Alla Speranza in Castelfranco Veneto. The evening concluded with a dinner-show for over three hundred people.
The event is part of the Porcomondo! calendar, preceded by regional pre-selections (Friulian and Trentino championships). Full program at porcomondo.org.

Riese Pio X is located in the upper Treviso plain, between Castelfranco Veneto and Montebelluna. By car, it can be reached from the SP667 and local provincial roads; the nearest train station is Castelfranco Veneto.
