The polenta festival in Castelminio, between Palio and Venetian peasant tradition
The Poenta Festival is the large village festival of the hamlet of Castelminio, in the Municipality of Resana (province of Treviso). The protagonist is polenta (poenta in Venetian), a symbol of the traditional cuisine and peasant culture of the area. The event is organized by the Festa dea Poenta Social Promotion Association.
Born in 2005, the Palio dea Poenta is held every third Sunday in September and re-enacts the days dedicated to harvesting and shelling corn, with a challenge between the four historic districts of Castelminio — a Fornasa, i Marta, e Motte and a Seolara de Santa Brigida — each with its own colored scarf. There is also the Power Pulling with the dragging of weighted trailers and the Marcia dea Poenta.
In addition to the competition, the festival offers traditional cuisine, musical evenings, shows, culture, and agricultural machinery exhibitions, in a program that combines the memory of the Venetian peasant world with the fun of a large village festival. An identity event that tells the roots of Castelminio and the entire Marca Trevigiana territory.
The Poenta Festival returns to Castelminio di Resana (Treviso) from September 11 to 27, 2026. The large village festival, organized by the Festa dea Poenta Social Promotion Association, celebrates polenta as the star of traditional Venetian cuisine, in a program that combines gastronomy, sports, culture, and entertainment.
The heart of the event is the Palio dea Poenta, with the challenge between the four historic districts of the town.
The festival spans several days with a gastronomic stand dedicated to polenta and traditional Venetian cuisine. Among the main events:
