Two fairs, a centuries-old tradition
Every October, Bassano del Grappa, in the province of Vicenza, celebrates autumn with two historic and complementary events: the Fiera Franca and the Fiera d'Autunno. Together, they represent an event rooted in the city's agricultural and commercial culture.
The Fiera Franca and the Fat Ox
The Fiera Franca is held on the first Thursday of October along Viale De Gasperi, featuring the traditional cattle market and the renowned Fat Ox Competition. Alongside the animals displayed from dawn, there is space for exhibitions of historical and modern agricultural equipment and a market exhibition of local products, with educational initiatives curated by ARAV.
The Fiera d'Autunno in the historic centre
The following weekend is dedicated to the Fiera d'Autunno, which invades the historic centre with hundreds of stalls: from Piazza Libertà and Piazza Garibaldi to Via Verci, Roma, Museo, and Da Ponte, exhibitors offer crafts and gastronomic specialities from all Italian regions. In Piazzotto Montevecchio, there are stands from the twin towns of Mühlacker (Germany) and Voiron (France).
Feast, taste, and fun
To complete the celebration, the funfair at Prato Santa Caterina and the lively atmosphere that transforms Bassano into a large open-air market for a few days, amidst aromas, traditions, and typical products.
Fair and Autumn Market — edition 2026
The 2026 edition confirms the double autumn tradition of Bassano del Grappa. The Fiera Franca takes place on Thursday, October 1st on Viale De Gasperi, featuring the cattle market, the Fat Ox Competition, and the exhibition of animals and agricultural equipment. The Fiera d'Autunno, on the other hand, enlivens the historic centre on the weekend of Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th, with hundreds of stalls, typical products from all over Italy, and the funfair at Prato Santa Caterina.

How to get there
The historic centre of Bassano del Grappa and Viale De Gasperi are reachable by train and car via the SP248. During the fairs, traffic regulations are modified: it is advisable to check parking information in advance.
Admission
Free admission to both fairs. Purchases and refreshments are paid for at the stalls and stands.
