The masquerade party in the heart of the Alta Langa
The Murazzano Carnival is one of the most anticipated winter events for this small town in the Alta Langa, in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Known primarily for its famous PDO robiola cheese, Murazzano opens its main square for a colorful and family-friendly celebration, designed to involve both young and old in an afternoon of joy and carnival traditions.
The heart of the event is Piazza Monsignor Dadone, which comes alive in the early afternoon with children and adults in costume. The program is specifically dedicated to the little ones, with games, music, dancing, face painting, and entertainment that fill the town center with vibrancy. In case of bad weather, the party is not cancelled but moves indoors to the Gatti-Pagliano multipurpose hall, ensuring the event goes ahead even in uncertain weather, as happened in the 2026 edition.
One of the most anticipated moments is the award ceremony for the three best costumes of the day, which highlights the imagination and creativity of families and children. This is followed by the most delicious part of the day, with the distribution of typical Piedmontese Carnival specialties: polenta, bugie (traditional carnival fritters), and other seasonal sweets, accompanied by drinks for all participants.
Organized with the support of the Murazzano Municipal Administration and local associations, the Carnival represents a meeting point for the entire Alta Langa community. It is a simple and genuine celebration, far from the grand historical carnivals but deeply rooted in the life of the town, capable of transforming a winter day into a moment of sharing, color, and fun for residents and visitors alike.
The 2026 Murazzano Carnival was held on Saturday, February 14, starting at 3:00 PM in Piazza Monsignor Dadone. Due to adverse weather conditions, the event was moved indoors to the Gatti-Pagliano multipurpose hall, without compromising the program. The afternoon was dedicated to games, music, and entertainment for the little ones.
At 4:30 PM, the award ceremony for the three best costumes of the day took place, while at 5:00 PM, it was time for treats with polenta, bugie, and other delicious seasonal specialties. The party, which was a great success despite the rain, confirmed the strong community spirit of the Alta Langa town.
The festival takes place in Piazza Monsignor Dadone, in the center of Murazzano (CN). In case of bad weather, activities are moved indoors to the Gatti-Pagliano multipurpose hall.
The Carnival is held during the Carnival period, between February and early March, on an afternoon (usually Saturday) starting at 3:00 PM.
Murazzano can be reached by car along the roads of the Alta Langa, about half an hour from Dogliani and the motorway exit. Parking areas are available in the town center near the square.
An event suitable for everyone, designed especially for children and families.
