About Mozzarella Festival

Every summer, the village of Borgo Centore in Cellole celebrates its most iconic product with the Mozzarella Festival. Over several August evenings, the event highlights Buffalo Mozzarella PDO, featuring food stalls, live music, and the warm hospitality of this small community on the Domitian coast. This popular, free-entry event attracts visitors every year from across the Caserta province and lower Lazio.

The Mozzarella Festival in Borgo Centore

The Mozzarella Festival is the most anticipated summer event in Borgo Centore, a small village in the municipality of Cellole, in the province of Caserta. For several evenings in August, the streets and squares of the village come alive with food stalls, local producers, live music, and families, making it one of the most deeply rooted festivals on the Domitian coast. The 2025 event marked its 23rd edition, a testament to a tradition that has been renewed for over twenty years.

Buffalo Mozzarella, the queen of the table

The absolute star is the Buffalo Mozzarella PDO, the symbolic product of this stretch of Campania overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The festival was created specifically to showcase the dairy product that makes the region famous: freshly spun mozzarella, braids, bocconcini, and rich local gastronomy accompany the public evening after evening. Alongside the king of the festival, there is no shortage of other flavors from Caserta's cuisine, offering a taste journey that blends rural tradition with conviviality.

A village born from land reclamation

Borgo Centore is a settlement that emerged in the early 1950s at kilometer 2.2 of the Via Domiziana, just a few kilometers from the sea at Baia Domizia, as the final stage of the coastal reclamation and land reform. It is a small community, yet proud of its rural roots, having found its economic and cultural identity in buffalo farming and dairy production. Today, the festival is the moment when this village opens its doors to visitors.

Atmosphere and program

The formula is that of the great popular festivals of Campania: free entry, food and wine stalls, musical performances, and dance evenings, often accompanied by side events such as a beer festival and entertainment for children. The atmosphere is that of a genuine village fair, where quality food meets the desire to socialize under the August sky.

Cellole and the province of Caserta

The event is part of the rich summer calendar of the Municipality of Cellole and the province of Caserta, in Campania, among the many festivals that enliven the territory of the Gulf of Gaeta and the lower Caserta coast. For those spending their holidays in Baia Domizia and the surrounding area, the Borgo Centore Mozzarella Festival is the perfect opportunity to discover the authentic soul of the hinterland and its excellent products.

Mozzarella Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Borgo Centore Mozzarella Festival is expected in August, as per tradition, but official dates and the program have not yet been announced by the organizers. Following the 23rd edition in 2025, the village of Cellole prepares to renew the appointment with Buffalo Mozzarella PDO.

Towards the 2026 edition

The Borgo Centore Mozzarella Festival is expected to return in the summer of 2026, during the usual period in August. At the moment, the Municipality of Cellole has not yet released official dates or the detailed program for the new edition.
