About Mousikè

Mousikè is the international festival hosted by the Fiesole School of Music Foundation: over twenty chamber and symphonic concerts that bring together world-renowned artists and the young talents of the Italian Youth Orchestra. From the Limonaia of Villa La Torraccia in Fiesole to the Red Hall of the Medici Park in Pratolino and the theaters of Florence, the 2026 edition features stars such as Antonio Pappano, Sergeij Krylov, Carolin Widmann, and Miklós Perényi. A journey blending high-level training, masterclasses, and live performances, with accessible ticket prices and a final free-entry Music Festival.

A festival born from the school

The Mousikè Festival is the flagship musical event promoted by the Fiesole School of Music Foundation (ETS), one of Italy's most prestigious educational institutions, based in the 17th-century Villa La Torraccia in the town of Fiesole (Province of Florence, Tuscany). The name draws from the Greek expression mousikè téchne, the art of the Muses, which for the ancients encompassed all arts of sound and movement. It is a statement of intent: here, music is not just a performance, but an encounter between generations, between internationally acclaimed masters and young musicians in training.

Between Fiesole, Pratolino, and Florence

Mousikè is a widespread festival that inhabits various evocative locations across the Florentine territory. The heart of the event lies in Fiesole, between the Sinopoli Auditorium and the Limonaia of Villa La Torraccia, but concerts also travel to the Red Hall of the Medici Park in Pratolino (Villa Demidoff, Municipality of Vaglia) and the grand theaters of Florence, from the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino to the Teatro Verdi, Teatro Niccolini, and Sala Vanni. This mobile geography allows audiences to experience music in both monumental settings and intimate spaces, nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Masters and young talents on the same stage

The formula that makes Mousikè special is the close bond between concerts and spring masterclasses, during which world-class performers work side-by-side with the School's students. The audience thus witnesses not only the performances of great soloists but also the open rehearsals of the Italian Youth Orchestra, a true training ground for the next generation of national concert performers. It is a rare experience that reveals the work behind the scenes and the energy of cross-generational transmission.

A program of international scope

Mousikè brings together some of the most important names on the global classical scene: conductors, violinists, cellists, singers, and pianists who stop in Fiesole to share their repertoire and experience. Alongside the great interpreters, the School's ensembles and its vocal and early music departments take the stage, balancing classical tradition with a contemporary perspective.

An accessible event

In line with the School's educational and social mission, Mousikè keeps ticket prices affordable, designed to introduce new audiences to great music. The festival traditionally concludes with the Music Festival (Festa della Musica), a collective event with free admission that celebrates the shared value of making music together. For those visiting Florence and its surroundings, Mousikè is an opportunity to discover the hills of Fiesole not just as a scenic destination, but as an authentic sound laboratory of Tuscany.

Mousikè — edition 2026

The second edition of Mousikè offers over twenty concerts from April 29 to June 24, 2026, across Fiesole, Pratolino, and Florence. International masters and young talents of the Italian Youth Orchestra share the stage, under the direction of Antonio Pappano and featuring soloists such as Sergeij Krylov, Carolin Widmann, and Miklós Perényi. Tickets start from 5 euros, with a free final Music Festival.

The second edition of the Mousikè Festival (April 29 - June 24, 2026) confirms the formula linking concerts to the spring masterclasses of the Fiesole School of Music. Over twenty events animate the Limonaia of Villa La Torraccia, the Red Hall of the Medici Park of Pratolino, and the main theaters of Florence.

Among the most anticipated moments are the concerts of the Italian Youth Orchestra conducted by Antonio Pappano, performances by violinists Sergeij Krylov and Carolin Widmann, cellists Miklós Perényi and Tanja Tetzlaff, and soprano Maria Agresta. The festival closes on June 24 with the free-entry Music Festival.
