The international festival of contemporary performing arts in Florence
Fabbrica Europa is one of Italy's most significant festivals dedicated to contemporary performing arts. Every year, for about a month between September and October, it turns Florence into a vast laboratory of artistic experimentation, with a program that weaves together dance, music, theater, performance, visual arts, and multimedia languages. Promoted by the Fondazione Fabbrica Europa per le arti contemporanee ETS, the festival was founded in 1994 and has since brought some of the most innovative voices on the national and international scene to the Tuscan capital.
The heart of the event is the PARC Performing Arts Research Centre, housed in the former Fiat Thermal Power Plant in the Novoli district, but the festival is inherently decentralized, inhabiting numerous locations across the city each year: museums, cloisters, historic theaters, and urban spaces. Recent editions have spanned the Museo Marino Marini, the Palazzina Reale, the Teatro della Pergola, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro Puccini, and the Teatro Cantiere Florida, turning the entire city into a contemporary stage.
The hallmark of Fabbrica Europa is its open perspective on the continent and the Mediterranean, understood not as a fixed geography but as a shifting horizon of encounter and exchange between cultures, generations, and languages. The festival acts as a choral and poetic gesture, built on active listening to the world and the intersection of diverse artistic visions, generations, and geographies. Each edition brings great masters of the international scene into dialogue with young authors and emerging artists, providing a platform for national and world premieres.
As a key cultural event for the Municipality of Florence and the Estate Fiorentina, Fabbrica Europa has been a benchmark for the Tuscan public and performing arts professionals for over thirty years. For those visiting Florence in autumn, it offers a precious opportunity to discover a city often identified with the Renaissance through the lens of contemporary creation, featuring evening shows, performances, meetings, and free activities.
For 2026, Fabbrica Europa announces its 33rd edition, scheduled in Florence from September 11 to October 11. As in previous editions, the festival will unfold over approximately a month of events spread between the PARC in Novoli and numerous other city venues, featuring a multidisciplinary program of dance, music, theater, performance, and multimedia arts.
The 2026 edition reaffirms the festival's focus on Europe and the Mediterranean as a horizon for encounter between diverse artistic visions, generations, and geographies. The detailed calendar with artists, shows, and times will be published in the months leading up to the event.
The detailed program for the 33rd edition, including the line-up, venues, and times, will be announced by the Fondazione Fabbrica Europa in the weeks preceding the festival. The official dates are confirmed: September 11 to October 11, 2026, in Florence.
As per tradition, expect a month of evening shows, national and world premieres, concerts, performances, and free activities distributed between the PARC Performing Arts Research Centre and other city venues. Updates and ticketing are available on the official website fabbricaeuropa.net.
Save the date for the 33rd edition: a month of contemporary performing arts in Florence, from September 11 to October 11, 2026. Program currently in development.
Florence is easily accessible by train (Santa Maria Novella station, a high-speed rail hub) and by air (Florence-Peretola Airport). The PARC, the main venue, is located in the Novoli district, served by the tram line and city buses. Other venues are distributed throughout the city center and are reachable on foot or by public transport.
Tickets for individual shows are available for purchase online (including via the TicketOne circuit) and at the venue box offices. Many activities and meetings at the PARC are free. It is recommended to check the official website for the complete schedule and purchasing methods.
As this is a decentralized festival, it is advisable to plan travel between the various venues in advance. For major international names, advance booking is highly recommended.
