About Mountain Choirs

Every summer, Moena, the 'Fairy of the Dolomites', dedicates several evenings to mountain singing with the Mountain Choirs festival. From July 13 to August 31, 2026, the town and its surrounding hamlets host the Coro Enrosadira of Moena and guest choirs from Val di Fassa and Val di Fiemme, offering a journey through Ladin traditions, folk songs, and alpine heritage. Free admission, 9:15 PM.

Moena's summer choral festival

In the heart of Val di Fassa, at the foot of the Dolomites, Moena — in the province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige — is known as the 'Fairy of the Dolomites'. Every summer, the town opens its evenings to choral singing with the Mountain Choirs festival, a series of concerts that accompanies residents and visitors from mid-July until the end of August. This is not a grand stage festival, but an intimate and authentic gathering that brings the voices of alpine communities into the school's Aula Magna and the small churches and squares of Moena's hamlets.

The Coro Enrosadira, the soul of the event

The star of the festival is the Coro Enrosadira of Moena, a male voice choir founded in 1981 by the enthusiasm of a group of local youths. The name refers to the enrosadira, the Ladin term for the soft pink hue that the Dolomite peaks take on at sunset. Directed since 2012 by maestro Barbara Pedrotti, the choir complements its classic mountain song repertoire with a section dedicated to Ladin songs, particularly the compositions of Moena musician Ermanno Zanoner, known as 'Luigi Canori'. The festival brings together guest choirs from neighboring valleys, such as the Coro Negritella of Predazzo, the Coro Stelelune of Cavalese, and the Coro Valfassa.

Songs that tell the story of the mountains

The mountain choirs of Trentino are much more than summer entertainment: they are a living expression of the roots and identity of the alpine valleys. Their voices recount the memories, hardships, and values of mountain communities through a repertoire that weaves together folk songs, sacred pieces, and melodies of the Ladin tradition, a linguistic minority of which Val di Fassa is a guardian. Attending a concert in a hamlet like Someda or at the Church of San Lazzaro in Forno means connecting with the deepest soul of this territory.

Where it takes place

  • Aula Magna of the local school complex in Moena, the main venue for evening concerts;
  • Hamlet of Someda, for open-air evenings in the village;
  • Church of San Lazzaro in Forno, an intimate and evocative setting;
  • other Moena hamlets (Sorte, Forno) involved on a rotating basis.

All events have free admission and start at 9:15 PM, with a possible move to the Aula Magna in case of bad weather. The festival is organized by the Moena Hoteliers Association in collaboration with local choral groups.

Mountain Choirs — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Mountain Choirs runs from July 13 to August 31, with six evenings spread between the school's Aula Magna and the hamlets of Moena. The Coro Enrosadira of Moena takes center stage, joined by guest choirs Negritella of Predazzo, Stelelune of Cavalese, and Valfassa. All concerts start at 9:15 PM with free admission.

The 2026 festival confirms its successful formula: a series of evening concerts by the Coro Enrosadira of Moena and guest choirs from the Fassa and Fiemme valleys, with events held both in the school's Aula Magna and in the hamlets of Moena. The calendar opens on July 13 and closes on August 31, alternating indoor appointments with open-air concerts in the villages of Someda and Forno.

All events are free and start at 9:15 PM, with a move to the Aula Magna in case of bad weather. The event is organized by the Moena Hoteliers Association.
