The patron saint feast of Pera di Fassa

The San Lorenzo Festival is the patron saint celebration of Pera, a historic hamlet in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan, located in the Val di Fassa, the Ladin heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. The event takes place every year on August 10th, the day dedicated to the Christian martyr Lawrence and, traditionally, the night of the shooting stars: a setting that makes the evening truly magical under the Dolomite sky.

The Mùsega de Poza parade

The most anticipated moment is the parade of the Mùsega de Poza, the local brass band. The procession leaves from Hotel Europa and winds through the village to the parish church, where the final concert is held. Founded in 1933 by eight music enthusiasts, the band now boasts nearly seventy uniformed members and, under the direction of Maestro Giancarlo Dorich, preserves and passes on the Ladin musical tradition of the valley.

Music, dance, and entertainment

Following the concert, the celebration continues with live music, dancing under the stars, and entertainment suitable for all ages. It is a community event that brings together residents and visitors in the typical convivial atmosphere of Trentino village festivals, blending Ladin spirit with mountain hospitality.

A cultural heritage

The church of San Lorenzo in Pera, built between the late 16th and early 17th centuries, is one of the oldest places of worship in the area and houses decorations by Francesco Bernard, known as the "Giotto of Pèra". This historic building serves as the backdrop for a festival that combines devotion, brass band music, and village life, offering visitors an authentic glimpse into the folk traditions of the Val di Fassa.
