A concert by the Coro Valfassa featuring alpine songs and Ladin harmonies in Pozza di Fassa
Mountain Voices is the summer event that brings the unmistakable sound of the Coro Valfassa to Pozza di Fassa, a village in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan. During an evening dedicated to choral mountain singing, the audience is guided through peaks and landscapes on a journey to discover the traditions and history of the valley, featuring vocal harmonies crafted over more than half a century of activity.
Founded in 1970, the Coro Valfassa has its roots in a group of enthusiasts who, after listening to the mountain songs of the famous Coro della S.A.T., decided to create their own ensemble from the Fassa Valley. Today, the choir brings together about thirty singers from the Val di Fassa and the nearby Val di Fiemme, under the direction of maestro Stefano Lazzer from Campitello.
The repertoire ranges from the great classics of alpine folk singing to pieces performed in Ladin, the valley's mother tongue: a work of linguistic and cultural promotion that has led the choir to perform throughout Italy and abroad over the years. These are songs that tell stories of alpine life, work, friendship, and a deep connection to the territory.
The concert features a selection of folk and mountain songs, alternating famous choral repertoire with compositions in Ladin. Artistic direction is entrusted to maestro Stefano Lazzer, who has led the ensemble since 2016. The event takes place outdoors in the center of Pozza di Fassa; in case of bad weather, the evening will be moved to the Padiglione Manifestazioni.
The event is part of the summer calendar curated by the Enjoy Pozza Events Committee, which brings Pozza di Fassa to life with shows, concerts, and cultural initiatives throughout the season. Mountain Voices represents a moment of identity for the Val di Fassa community, where choral singing serves as a tool for gathering and transmitting collective memory, set against the backdrop of the Trentino region and the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
