The truffle, protagonist of the Umbrian autumn

In Fabro Scalo, in the province of Terni, the National Market Exhibition of Truffles and Quality Agri-food Products is one of the most anticipated food and wine fairs in Umbria. Recognized as a national fair, it attracts producers and visitors from all over Italy every November, coinciding with the Patron Saint Martin's Day festival.

Stands, flavours and tradition

Along Via Vittorio Emanuele and Via del Campo Sportivo, the food and wine stands offer truffles, chestnuts, wine, and local products. The fair hosts stands from Campagna Amica - Coldiretti, Slow Food Orvieto, an animal exhibition, and craft stalls, accompanied by shows, entertainment, and conferences. A historic highlight of the editions is the attempt to create the largest truffle omelette, a symbol of the area's truffle-growing vocation.

A widespread celebration in the territory

The event is linked to the community dimension of the town of Fabro, where the Festa di San Martino (Saint Martin's Day festival) is held with the Sagra della «Torta sotto 'l foco» (Festival of the 'Cake under the fire'), and to the medieval reenactment in Carnaiola. A weekend that tells the story of the Umbrian autumn through gastronomy, tradition, and hospitality, just a stone's throw from the Tuscan border.
