The Montramito Fish Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the summer in Massarosa, in the province of Lucca. It takes place in the village of Montramito, in the La Gulfa area, and for over a week in August, it transforms this corner of Versilia into a large gathering dedicated to seafood cuisine. It is one of those local festivals that make Massarosa the "Town of Festivals," with a packed summer calendar of food and wine events.

The absolute star is fish, prepared according to traditional Versilia recipes. The food stalls offer fried fish, seafood pasta, and main courses in a menu that changes nightly but remains faithful to the Tuscan coastal tradition. The strength of the festival lies in its popular and family-friendly atmosphere: dishes are served at long outdoor tables, in a convivial setting that is an integral part of the experience.

More than just food

Alongside the cuisine, the evenings are enlivened by background music and the inevitable bingo (tombola), a true ritual of Italian village festivals. The atmosphere is that of the summer parties of yesteryear, where neighbors and visitors gather to dine together on the hottest nights of the year, often around the Ferragosto holiday.

A festival with a heart of solidarity

The event is organized by the volunteers of AVIS Massarosa-Stiava (Association of Blood Volunteers ONLUS): participating also means supporting the activities of a local donor association. It is this blend of good food, social interaction, and commitment to charity that gives the Montramito Fish Festival its authentic character, typical of Tuscan village festivals.

The event is held in Montramito, a hamlet of Massarosa, in the La Gulfa area, along the strip that connects Versilia to the Lucca hills. The festival is traditionally held in the second ten days of August, with evening opening of the stalls. Located just a few kilometers from the beaches of Versilia and Lake Massaciuccoli, it is a perfect destination to end a day at the beach or hiking in the municipality of Massarosa with a convivial meal.
