Wines from the Romagna hills, music, and markets in the village of Rocca Malatestiana
Every year, at the end of May, the small Municipality of Montiano, in the Province of Forlì-Cesena, transforms into a large open-air tasting route. Montiano DiVino is the food and wine event that celebrates the wines of the Romagna hills, produced right in these lands included in the Wine and Flavors Route of the Colli di Forlì and Cesena. For two evenings, the village lights up with lights, scents, and music, and the entire historic center becomes the stage for the celebration.
The charm of this festival also lies in its locations. Montiano is a village of just over seventeen hundred inhabitants nestled in the hills of Cesena, overlooked by the imposing Rocca Malatestiana, the fortress with the characteristic heart shape that dominates Piazza Maggiore and the old center of the town. Walking through the streets and alleys, from the square to the fortress walls, you find yourself immersed in an intimate and authentic atmosphere, far from the crowds of large events.
The festival's mechanism is simple and convivial: you buy the glass with vouchers and move freely among the local producers' wineries, which from 7 PM offer their labels for tasting. It's a direct way to get to know those who make wine on these hills and to taste the territory's reds and whites in their natural context.
Accompanying the glasses is a food stand with typical Romagna flavors: Piedmontese beef tartare, panzanella, mixed crostini, fried fish, filled piadine, baked pasta, and local desserts. Along the streets, there is also a market of typical products and crafts. Every evening, in the square, live music concludes the day with concerts ranging from singer-songwriter music to hits from the '80s and '90s. On Saturday morning, the event also offers walks through the paths and vineyards of the surrounding hills, organized by the Pro Loco of Montiano.
Montiano DiVino is organized by the Pro Loco of Montiano, which curates each edition involving wineries, producers, and volunteers from the town. It is one of those village festivals that tell the story of the most genuine Romagna, where wine is above all an occasion to be together.
Tastings were held directly in the territory's producers' wineries, starting from 7 PM, throughout the historic center of Montiano from Piazza Maggiore to the Rocca Malatestiana.
Historic center of Montiano (FC), from Piazza Maggiore to the Rocca Malatestiana. Tastings are held in the local producers' wineries scattered throughout the village.
