The big village festival on MotoGP weekend, in the town of the Sic
Every year, when MotoGP returns to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the small Municipality of Coriano, in the Province of Rimini, comes alive. The Sbaraccata a Coriano is the big late-summer festival organized by Pro Loco Coriano to welcome enthusiasts, fans, tourists, and curious visitors who reach the Riviera for the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix. The streets of the center, particularly Via Garibaldi and the "stradone" (main road), fill with tables, aromas, and music, in a typically Romagnolo convivial atmosphere.
Coriano is not just any town in the world of two wheels: it is the birthplace of Marco Simoncelli, the "Sic", a beloved champion who passed away in 2011. During the MotoGP weekend, the bond between the town and its hero becomes palpable: the museum "La storia del Sic" remains open continuously, and the entire community gathers in remembrance of the champion, with emotional moments such as the lighting of the flame dedicated to him, in the presence of his parents Rossella and Paolo Simoncelli.
The heart of the Sbaraccata is its food. The Pro Loco stalls offer the best of Romagna cuisine: filled piadine, strozzapreti with sausage, squacquerone cheese, and Sangiovese reduction, accompanied by wine, beer, cocktails, and plenty of conviviality. The festival intertwines with Sangiovese Street, a showcase dedicated to the symbolic grape variety of the Coriano hills, with tastings, serving, and sales of bottles from local wineries.
The evening is enlivened by live music and DJ sets, while in the afternoon Via Garibaldi hosts a swap market animated by local children and hobbyists. For those who love the territory, a walk of about 10 km through the countryside and vineyards of Coriano is often planned, with a final stop for bruschetta and wine offered by the Pro Loco. A perfect way to discover the genuine soul of this Emilia-Romagna village away from the roar of the grandstands.
The Sbaraccata is much more than just a side event to the race: it's an opportunity to experience the true Romagnolo spirit, made of hospitality, good food, and passion for engines. A free event open to all, which combines popular celebration with the memory of a champion, in the town that still today carries Marco Simoncelli's name etched in its heart.
The 2026 edition of the Sbaraccata a Coriano is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, coinciding with the MotoGP San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix (Misano, September 11-13, 2026). The festival enlivens the town center starting from the afternoon and continues until late at night, welcoming fans, tourists, and curious visitors to the town that was the birthplace of the "Sic".
The heart of the event is the Pro Loco food stalls with Romagna cuisine specialties, accompanied by Sangiovese wine from the local hills, beer, and cocktails, all immersed in the Sangiovese Street atmosphere.
Indicative program based on the established edition; the final details will be communicated by Pro Loco Coriano closer to the event.
Specialties on the menu: filled piadine, strozzapreti with sausage, squacquerone cheese, and Sangiovese reduction, Sangiovese wine, beer, and cocktails. The festival takes place within the framework of Sangiovese Street, with tastings and sales of wines from local wineries.
Coriano is located in the Rimini hinterland, a few kilometers from the Misano World Circuit. By car, take the A14 highway exit at Rimini Sud or Riccione, then provincial roads towards the hinterland. The nearest train station is in Riccione or Rimini, connected to Coriano by local buses. During the MotoGP weekend, traffic is heavy: it's advisable to arrive early and park in the designated areas.
The event takes place on the weekend of the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix, generally in September, from late afternoon until late at night.
Admission to the festival is free. Food and drinks are paid for directly at the Pro Loco stalls.
