Monti di Vini Sicani Wine & Music Fest

A celebration of Sicilian wine in the Sicani Mountains

The Monti di Vini Sicani Wine & Music Fest is a food, wine, and music event held in San Giovanni Gemini, a town in the province of Agrigento nestled within the Sicani Mountains of Sicily. Conceived and organized by the Slow Food Monti Sicani chapter, the event celebrates the richness of Sicilian viticulture and the deep bond between wine, food, and local culture, set in a convivial evening atmosphere that brings the historic town squares to life.

Wine, tastings, and local culture

The heart of the festival is the tasting of wines from numerous Sicilian wineries, many of which are featured in industry guides and committed to quality viticulture. Visitors, guided by professional AIS sommeliers (from the Agrigento and Caltanissetta delegations), can sample labels that tell the story of the island's diverse terroirs. The tastings are paired with local dishes inspired by the 'Long Life Food Routes' (Vie del Cibo della Lunga Vita), highlighting typical products of the Sicani Mountains according to Slow Food's 'good, clean, and fair' principles.

Live music under the stars

Alongside the wine, live music is the other soul of the festival: the evenings are animated by bands and ensembles ranging from jazz to pop and rock, creating a relaxed and festive atmosphere that accompanies the wine glasses and conversations among enthusiasts. The marriage of gastronomy and musical entertainment is captured in the very name: 'Wine & Music'.

The editions

The first edition was held on September 1, 2023, while subsequent editions have moved to the height of summer. The third edition, held on August 7, 2025, titled 'Faces and Stories of Sicilian Wine', brought together fifteen island wineries in Piazza Purrello, confirming the growth of an increasingly anticipated event. The event is produced by the Slow Food Monti Sicani chapter in collaboration with the Municipality of San Giovanni Gemini, the Pro Loco, and other local organizations.

More than just a wine fair, the Monti di Vini Sicani Wine & Music Fest is a chance to discover San Giovanni Gemini and the Sicani Mountains area, with its rural landscapes, charming villages, and excellent agricultural products. The event is part of a summer calendar that highlights the gastronomic identity of inland Sicily, far from the most beaten tourist paths.
