Jazz in the Bosco Eremo di Moncucco, in the heart of the UNESCO Monferrato
The Monfrà Jazz Fest is a festival that tells the story of the Monferrato region—a UNESCO World Heritage site—through the lens of jazz. Every year, the festival creates a widespread program between Casale Monferrato and the surrounding hill villages, stopping in Odalengo Grande, a small town in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont, for one of its most beloved events: the Forest Concert.
Music resonates among the trees of the Bosco Eremo di Moncucco, a quiet, off-the-beaten-path location that becomes a natural stage. Here, jazz becomes a sensory experience: the audience reaches the clearing via a short path and lets themselves be enveloped by the sounds and the hilly landscape. It is the perfect synthesis of the festival's philosophy, which views jazz as a "language without a passport" capable of engaging with different geographies, generations, and traditions.
The Odalengo Grande event is about more than just music. At the end of the concert, the Pro Loco of Odalengo Grande offers a traditional merenda sinoira for a voluntary donation, turning the day into a moment of celebration and connection for the community and visitors alike. This is how the Monfrà Jazz Fest promotes the small centers of the Monferrato, bringing audiences, artists, and culture to places where great music usually does not reach.
Organized by Le Muse Accademia Europea d'Arte, the Monfrà Jazz Fest is supported by the Ministry of Culture and is part of the national I-Jazz and Jazz Takes The Green networks. Throughout its editions, it has brought leading names from the Italian and international jazz scene to the Alessandria hills, confirming its status as one of the most important musical events in south-eastern Piedmont.

Odalengo Grande is located in the Lower Monferrato, in the Province of Alessandria. It can be reached by car via the SP road for Valcerrina; we recommend arriving early to find parking and to walk the final stretch through the woods.
