The Piedmontese stage of the Tiramisù World Cup in the heart of Monferrato
In the heart of the UNESCO-listed Monferrato hills, the village of Moasca (Province of Asti, Piedmont) hosts the Monferrato Selections, the Piedmontese stage of the famous Tiramisù World Cup, the world championship dedicated to the most well-known Italian dessert globally. Following its 2025 debut, Moasca has established itself as a benchmark for promoting tiramisu in Piedmont, becoming the home of the first Piedmont Club of the Tiramisù Academy, founded in March 2026.
The unique feature of the Tiramisù World Cup is that it is a non-professional competition: the title is not contested by professional pastry chefs, but by enthusiasts and gourmands of all ages who prepare their tiramisu live in front of a panel of experts. Recipes are judged according to strict criteria: technical execution, aesthetic presentation, flavor intensity, balance, savoriness, and overall harmony.
The competition is divided into two categories. The Original Recipe allows only the six traditional ingredients—eggs, sugar, mascarpone, ladyfingers, coffee, and cocoa—without any variations. The Creative Recipe, however, gives competitors the freedom to reinterpret the dessert with new ingredients and pairings, highlighting local excellence.
The challenges take place at the Foro Vinario of Moasca, on Via XX Settembre, the food and wine heart of this small town in the Asti area, surrounded by the vineyards of the Asti DOCG. The event weaves a passion for dessert with the culture of wine and hazelnuts, in collaboration with local entities such as the Consorzio dell'Asti DOCG and the Consorzio della Nocciola Piemonte IGP.
The Monferrato Selections is not an end in itself: it is one of the official stages that select finalists for the Tiramisù World Cup world final, held every year in Treviso, the birthplace of the dessert. The winners of the Moasca selections thus gain entry to the international competition, bringing Monferrato onto the world stage of tiramisu.
The 2026 Monferrato Selections confirms the two-day format at the Foro Vinario of Moasca, in the Monferrato area of Asti. The event is one of the official selection stages for the Tiramisù World Cup, with the world final scheduled in Treviso from October 9 to 11, 2026.
Competitors challenge each other live before a jury, divided into groups of up to ten people per category: the highest score at each table wins. The winners of the selections advance to the stage final on Sunday.
Competitors are divided into groups of up to 10 people per category; the highest score at each table advances.
