Four evenings of pizza, music, and entertainment on the Mondragone seafront
The Mondragone Pizza Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the summer on the Domitian coast. For four evenings in late August, the Mondragone seafront, in the municipality of Mondragone in the province of Caserta (Campania), fills with ovens, stalls, and tables: local pizzerias take to the streets, transforming the Piazza Luigi Conte area, near the former pier, into a large open-air kitchen overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The concept is simple and successful: taking Campania's iconic product out of the restaurants and sharing it with the public in a festive setting, with the sea as a backdrop and the evening breeze accompanying the long queues in front of the ovens. The festival was created by the Mondrapizza Association, which brings together the city's pizza makers and restaurateurs, with the support of the municipal administration.
The heart of the event is the taste citadel set up on the seafront. Previous editions have featured 17 pizzerias with over twelve ovens running simultaneously: a deployment that allows for thousands of pizzas to be served every evening without compromising the quality of the dough or the slow leavening process.
The festival is not just about gastronomy. Every evening, a stage set up on the seafront hosts live music, comedy shows, cabaret, and DJ sets, with a strong presence of artists from the Neapolitan and Campanian scene. Past editions have featured concerts by local bands, evenings of Neapolitan songs, performances by comedians, and finales with fireworks over the sea. The well-established formula combines tastings, a stroll along the seafront, and entertainment until late at night.
The event is also designed for younger audiences: previous editions featured a Kids Lab area with "hands-on" workshops for children aged 4 to 10, where they can stretch their own dough and watch it bake in the oven. Entry to the festival area is free: you only pay for what you consume, directly at the stands.
Mondragone is a seaside city in the province of Caserta, lying at the foot of Monte Petrino and overlooking the Gulf of Gaeta. Known for its sandy beach, the buffalo mozzarella of the Volturno plain, and the archaeological site of Sinuessa, it experiences its peak activity in August: the Pizza Festival is part of a summer calendar that attracts visitors from the entire province, the Caserta hinterland, and the metropolitan area of Naples.
Over the years, the festival has become a showcase for the entire local supply chain: local flour, tomatoes, mozzarella, and oil end up on the pizza, directly telling the story of the cuisine of coastal Campania. For those visiting the Domitian coast in August, it is the easiest opportunity to taste the work of dozens of different pizzerias in a single evening.
The fifth edition of the festival dedicated to pizza will be held in Mondragone (CE) from Thursday, August 27th to Sunday, August 30th, 2026, once again on the city's seafront, in the Piazza Luigi Conte area. Four days that confirm the well-recognized formula of the event promoted by the Mondrapizza Association: the pizzerias of Mondragone and the Domitian coast set up their stalls with ovens in operation, joined by local producers, breweries, and pastry shops.
As in previous editions, there will be an area dedicated to gluten-free preparations, entertainment spaces for families, and a stage for live music and evening shows. The event has free entry and takes place along the seafront, during one of the busiest weeks of the Campanian summer.
