The tulip festival at Parco delle Chiocciole for Liberation Day
In the town of Casalnuovo di Napoli, in the province of Naples, the Parco delle Chiocciole on Via Paolo Borsellino hosts Mille Tulipani every spring, an event that blends public green space, civic memory, and community engagement. The initiative was born on Liberation Day, April 25th, and has quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated events in this Campanian town.
The heart of the festival is the free distribution of thousands of colorful tulips, packaged with their bulbs so that every family can replant them and watch them bloom again. The tulip thus becomes a small symbol of rebirth, shared beauty, and a connection to the local area: a simple gesture that brings spring into the homes and gardens of Casalnuovo.
Beyond the flower distribution, the days are filled with activities for children, games, and bouncy castles, making the park a festive destination for all ages. In past editions, the space has also been enriched with reproductions of famous artworks dedicated to tulips, from Van Gogh's painted fields to Monet's vistas, combining nature and culture in a single journey.
Launched in 2024, the event has grown year by year, involving local associations and the company Tulipani Freschi Italiani, which supplies the flowers. The event also ties into the May Day Festival, which brings music and concerts to Parco delle Chiocciole, extending the festive spirit beyond April 25th.
More than just a flower giveaway, Mille Tulipani is a gathering that highlights a green space in Casalnuovo di Napoli and strengthens the sense of belonging. In Campania, where local traditions are deeply felt, this spring festival offers a simple and inclusive model that unites historical memory, care for the land, and shared joy.
The 2026 edition of Mille Tulipani took place on Saturday, April 25th, and Sunday, April 26th, at the Parco delle Chiocciole on Via Paolo Borsellino, in Casalnuovo di Napoli. On Liberation Day, the park opened its doors to the public from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM for the traditional free tulip distribution.
Over two thousand colorful tulips were gifted, packaged with their bulbs as a symbol of rebirth and sharing. The two days also featured entertainment and bouncy castles for children, creating an event designed as a celebration for the whole community.
