The race that lights up the Marina night

The Mezza di Mezzanotte is one of the most successful additions to the Maremma running scene: a night race held in Marina di Grosseto, the seaside district of the Municipality of Grosseto, in the heart of summer. When the heat of the day gives way to the sea breeze, hundreds of runners gather on the promenade to tackle an evocative, fully illuminated route, starting and finishing at the Bagno Tirreno beach club.

The event is organized by Team Marathon Bike with the technical collaboration of UISP Grosseto and the support of the Municipality of Grosseto. Established in 2025, the event quickly became a highly anticipated date on the Maremma summer calendar, successfully blending sport, seaside tourism, and charity.

The route along the Maremma coast

The track winds along the cycle path connecting Marina di Grosseto to the main town and back, a flat and fast ribbon running near the pine forest and the sea. The race offers two distances: a shorter race, suitable for those who want to experience the night run without tackling the full half-marathon, and the classic 21 km half-marathon, reserved for more trained athletes. The evening start and the lighting along the entire route make this race an experience unlike any other daytime event.

Sport and solidarity

From its very first edition, Mezza di Mezzanotte has had a charitable heart: all proceeds were donated to support a local Grosseto resident in need of medical care. Many participants chose to run precisely because the initiative was for a good cause, turning the race into a collective gesture by the Maremma community. This bond between competition and social commitment is one of the event's hallmarks.

Marina di Grosseto, with its long beach, pine forest, and beach clubs, provides the ideal setting for an evening of outdoor sports. Mezza di Mezzanotte is part of the rich calendar of races promoted by Team Marathon Bike throughout the Maremma—the "Corri nella Maremma" circuit—and represents one of the most evocative moments of the season, attracting runners from all over Tuscany and beyond. Running under the stars, with the sea just a few steps away, is an emotion worth the trip to Maremma.
