The Isola del Giglio Half Marathon is the premier running festival of the Tuscan Archipelago. It takes place in the municipality of Isola del Giglio, in the province of Grosseto, on an island of rare beauty where Mediterranean scrub, terraced vineyards, and cliffs plunging into the sea provide the backdrop for a race that is also a scenic experience. Launched in 2025, the event has quickly established itself as one of the most evocative road races in Tuscany and the entire Italian island landscape.

When and where

The 2026 edition is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2026. The heart of the event is Giglio Porto, where the races start, while Giglio Campese hosts the logistics (parking, bib collection, and shuttles). The island is reached by ferry from Porto Santo Stefano, on the Argentario promontory, with more frequent connections during the race weekend.

The routes

The event caters to both competitive athletes and those simply looking for a run immersed in nature. The program includes:

• 30 km — competitive and non-competitive road race, the most challenging and scenic route;
• 21 km — the classic half marathon (21.0975 km), competitive and non-competitive;
• 11 km — shorter distance, competitive and non-competitive, open to beginners;
• Trekking — non-competitive free-pace route, immersed in the island's nature;
• Family Run and Kids Run — fun, non-competitive events dedicated to families and children.

The courses are described by the organizers as super scenic: they wind through villages, vineyards, and stretches of coastline, with ups and downs that test your legs while offering spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Organization and Running Tour

The event is technically managed by Phyto Performance Italia and is part of the Running Tour del Mar Tirreno circuit, which groups together several island races in Tuscany and Lazio (including Elba and Ventotene), offering benefits to those who participate in multiple stages. Registration is handled online via the ENDU platform.
