The summer market in Punta Secca, featuring local crafts and regional products
The Mercatino del Sole is the summer market event that colors the squares of Punta Secca every year, the enchanting seaside hamlet of the Municipality of Santa Croce Camerina, in the province of Ragusa. Promoted by the Municipal Administration, the market takes place between Piazza Concordia and Piazza Faro, in the heart of the village overlooking the sea, and accompanies the entire beach season with a lively and familiar atmosphere.
The initiative was born with a clear purpose: to promote the region's productive activities. A series of wooden gazebos, reserved for local merchants and artisans, creates a path of stalls where visitors can discover craftsmanship, typical products, and creations from the Iblean area. It is an opportunity to enhance the local economy and, at the same time, a pleasant evening stroll for tourists and residents alike.
The charm of the Mercatino del Sole is inseparable from the place that hosts it. Punta Secca has become famous throughout Italy and abroad as the setting for the TV series Inspector Montalbano: the Inspector's house overlooks the town square, while the historic lighthouse, commissioned by the Bourbons of Sicily and inaugurated in 1857, dominates the small seaside village. Walking among the market stalls means immersing yourself in a setting made of sea, light, and Sicilian tradition.
The Mercatino del Sole is part of the wider summer program of Santa Croce Camerina, which offers numerous cultural, gastronomic, and entertainment initiatives along the coast during the warm season. The hamlet of Punta Secca, with its golden beaches and promenade, is one of the most beloved seaside destinations in south-eastern Sicily, and in summer it transforms into an open-air stage of flavors, crafts, and conviviality.
The 2026 edition of the Mercatino del Sole is confirmed in Punta Secca from July 5 to August 30, 2026. The event takes place between Piazza Concordia and Piazza Faro, where seven wooden gazebos are installed for local merchants.
