About FAM Ragusa

The FAM - Mediterranean Agri-Food Fair is the most significant agricultural and livestock event in south-eastern Sicily, held annually in September in the town of Ragusa. Spanning over 23,000 square meters, the fair brings together breeders, farmers, and local producers for livestock exhibitions, agricultural machinery displays, tastings of local specialties, conferences, show cooking, and equestrian performances. A free-entry event that for half a century has showcased the agri-food excellence of the Iblean region, from the famous Ragusano DOP cheese to the island's finest products.

The most anticipated agri-food fair in south-eastern Sicily

The FAM - Mediterranean Agri-Food Fair is one of the longest-running and most deeply rooted industry events in Sicily. Organized by the Interprovincial Breeders' Consortium, it transforms the town of Ragusa into the island's capital of agriculture and livestock every year in late September, attracting breeders, farmers, companies, and thousands of visitors from across the Iblean region and the rest of Sicily.

Half a century of tradition and innovation

Founded in the 1970s, the FAM celebrated its fiftieth edition in 2025, cementing its status as a benchmark for the agri-food sector in Southern Italy. The fair bridges the traditional world of farming and livestock with innovation, keeping a constant focus on new technologies, sustainability, and the promotion of local supply chains.

What to see at the fair

Spanning an exhibition area of over 23,000 square meters, the event offers a packed calendar of activities spread over several days:

  • Livestock exhibitions featuring the best purebred animals, particularly the Modicana and Bruna cattle breeds, symbols of Iblean farming;
  • Agricultural machinery stands, showcasing equipment, tools, and vehicles for field work;
  • Spaces dedicated to Sicilian agri-food excellence, from Ragusano DOP to oils, wines, and local provincial products;
  • Tastings of local products and show cooking sessions with chefs reinterpreting Iblean cuisine;
  • Conferences and workshops on agricultural innovation, livestock farming, and the future of supply chains;
  • Equestrian shows with select horse breeds performing demonstrations and skill trials.

The Ragusano DOP in the spotlight

The heart of the fair is the Ragusano DOP cheese, the pride of Iblean dairy tradition: the event hosts a competition awarding the best wheels produced by local dairies. It is no coincidence that Ragusa was awarded the title of City of Cheese by ONAF, a recognition that highlights the province's dairy vocation.

An event for the whole community

The FAM is held at the Via Malfitano exhibition area in Ragusa, and admission is free. Beyond its role as an economic and commercial showcase for the agricultural sector, the event has become a popular family gathering, blending professional networking with a festive atmosphere, complete with stalls, street food, and entertainment for all ages in the heart of the Ragusa province, Sicily.
