The mountain bike race through the historic centers of the Valtriversa region stops in Villafranca d'Asti
The Mastodonte Relays are a cycling competition held in stages across the towns of the Valtriversa, in the province of Asti, in the heart of Piedmont. The Villafranca d'Asti stage is one of the circuit's highlights: an evening mountain bike race on a city loop of about 2.5 kilometers, winding through town streets and country roads with alternating stretches of asphalt and dirt. The format is simple and spectacular: participants pedal for about an hour along the circuit under the watchful eyes of the public lining the route.
The initiative was born with the stated goal of combining sports promotion with the enhancement of the territory and its local businesses, showcasing the historic centers and rolling hills of the valley. In Villafranca d'Asti, the race is about more than just competition: at the end of the event, the Villafranca Pro Loco offers a buffet dinner for all participants and their companions, turning the evening into a festive moment for the entire community.
The Mastodonte Relays are open to various categories designed to welcome enthusiasts of all levels: you can compete in pairs, solo, or in the e-bike and gravel categories. At each stage, the top three finishers in each category are awarded, while the overall winner of the series is crowned at the end of the circuit.
The Villafranca stage is part of a widespread calendar involving six towns in the Valle del Mastodonte: San Damiano d'Asti, Villafranca d'Asti, Monale, Roatto, Ferrere, and Cantarana. The event is promoted by the amateur sports association Jolly Europrestige of San Damiano d'Asti, under the auspices of C.S.A.IN. and the Valle del Mastodonte Trade District. It is a collective project that links amateur sports to the promotion of the excellence and commercial activities of the Asti area.
