The children's Carnival celebration in Piazza Statuto, Casaluce
The Masquerade Carnival is the event where Casaluce, a small town in the province of Caserta in Campania, celebrates Shrove Tuesday, turning Piazza Statuto into the beating heart of the town. For one morning, the square becomes a large space of color, music, and imagination dedicated to the little ones: masks, confetti, and streamers fill the air as children and families gather outdoors to experience the most playful day of the year together.
The initiative is organized by the Municipality of Casaluce in collaboration with Pro Loco Casaluci APS, who curate a program tailored specifically for children each year. There are no large allegorical float parades; the Masquerade Carnival is a family-friendly town square festival where play, participation, and a spirit of sharing take center stage. As local officials emphasize, these are the moments that make the community's heart beat, when the square fills with families and laughter.
The morning program alternates between various fun activities designed for children of all ages:
To complete the festivities, there is the traditional distribution of hot chocolate, cotton candy, popcorn, and carnival sweets, making the morning in the square even more delicious.
The Masquerade Carnival is a highly anticipated moment for the entire town: a simple, free opportunity to be together, entertain the children, and experience carnival traditions in the center of Casaluce. The festival combines the joy of costumes with the communal atmosphere typical of small towns in Campania, where the square remains the natural space for collective life. Anyone in the Agro Aversano area during Carnival will find an authentic, welcoming, and family-friendly celebration here.
On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, for Shrove Tuesday, Piazza Statuto in Casaluce hosted the 2026 edition of the Masquerade Carnival. From 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the square transformed into a large space of color, music, and imagination dedicated to children, featuring entertainment, dancing, bouncy castles, stilt walkers, and magic shows. The morning concluded with an award ceremony for the ten best costumes and the distribution of hot chocolate, cotton candy, popcorn, and carnival sweets.
