Mare di Brace, the grilled meat festival of Tortoreto Lido

Mare di Brace is one of the most anticipated summer festivals on the Teramo coast, set in the heart of Tortoreto Lido, in Piazza Caduti di Nassirya, along the southern stretch of the promenade. For six consecutive nights, the square transforms into a large open-air gathering where the aroma of grilled meat mingles with the sea breeze, music, and family laughter. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Tortoreto Borgo di Mare, with the patronage of the Municipality of Tortoreto, in the province of Teramo, Abruzzo.

The taste of the Abruzzese grill

The absolute star is the embers: the food stalls open every evening from 7:00 PM, offering specialties of Abruzzese street food, dedicated to meat cooked over an open fire. The menu features the essential arrosticini (sheep skewers) cooked to perfection, sliced steak, Angus burgers, crispy mixed fried foods, and fritters, as well as fresh seasonal fruit. Completing the experience is the cocktail bar corner, where the bold taste of grilled meat pairs perfectly with the freshness of a drink served by the sea.

Live music and DJ sets every night

Every evening at Mare di Brace is accompanied by live music and DJ sets, with a program that alternates between bands, folk-rock groups, and dance nights on the promenade. The atmosphere is typical of Abruzzese summer nights—informal and convivial—designed for those who want to dine outdoors and then stay to listen to music under the stars, with the beach just a few meters away.

An event for the whole family

Mare di Brace is not just about food and music: the organizers pay great attention to the little ones, with free bouncy castles set up in the event area, so that children can have fun safely while parents savor the offerings from the grill. Admission is free, making the festival an accessible appointment for both residents and tourists vacationing on the Teramo coast.

The event is part of the rich summer calendar of Tortoreto, a seaside resort that alternates food festivals, cultural events, and promenade gatherings every year. Born as a spin-off of the «Borgo di Brace» festival in the historic center, Mare di Brace was successfully «exported» to the Lido by the Pro Loco Tortoreto Borgo di Mare, becoming a staple of the Tortoreto summer and a way to promote the tradition of grilled meat and arrosticini, true symbols of Abruzzese popular gastronomy.
