The Magnalonga of Fabbrico

The Magnalonga of Fabbrico is a non-competitive food and wine walk that takes place every spring in Fabbrico, a small municipality in the low plains in the province of Reggio Emilia, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the Pro Loco of Fabbrico, the event combines the pleasure of a slow walk through the Reggiana countryside with stops dedicated to the local cuisine.

How the walk works

Participants gather in the morning in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the town center, from where the ring route begins, crossing the courtyards, threshing floors, and country roads surrounding the town. It is a route designed for everyone, to be taken at a leisurely pace and in good company: along the way, several gastronomic stops are set up, where a course is served accompanied by local wines and products.

The flavors of Emilian tradition

The common thread of the Magnalonga is Emilian peasant cuisine, made of simple and generous dishes. Among the courses that characterize this type of walk in the lower Reggiana area are cured meats, fresh pasta, and traditional desserts, enhanced in a rural context that tells the agricultural identity of the territory. Each stop thus becomes a convivial moment, to taste local specialties and get to know the realities that animate the town.

A festival for the town

Born in 2024 and reaching its third edition in 2026, the Magnalonga has become in a few years one of the most anticipated events of the Fabbrico spring. The formula, which combines light sport, landscape, and gastronomy, attracts participants even from neighboring towns in the lower Reggiana area and helps to promote Fabbrico and its countryside. The organization is handled by the Pro Loco, an association that promotes numerous initiatives for the community throughout the year.
