The Patronal Feast of Statte

The Madonna del Rosario Patronal Feast is the most cherished event of the year for Statte, a town in the province of Taranto, Puglia. The Madonna del Rosario is the town's patron saint, proclaimed as such by the Archbishop of Taranto, and is venerated in the Chiesa Madre Maria SS. del Rosario, the spiritual heart of the town, which opened for worship in 1900. Every year, in early October around the liturgical date of October 7th, the community gathers to renew a devotion deeply rooted in the region's religious history.

Three days of faith and celebration

The festivities span three days, blending religious observance with civic celebration. Solemn masses mark the days in the Mother Church, with the most significant celebration being the concelebrated mass on the patron saint's day, attended by city officials. The highlight is the solemn procession that winds through the main streets of Statte—Largo Lepanto, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and the surrounding areas—with the statue of the Madonna accompanied by the faithful and the sounds of the brass band.

Music, lights, and pyromusical displays

Alongside the religious rites, the feast showcases the vibrant, popular side of Puglian patronal celebrations: illuminations lighting up the town center, market stalls, a funfair for children, and brass band concerts featuring ensembles like the "Lemma-Città di Taranto" band. There is also pop music in the square, with evening entertainment open to everyone. The grand finale is the pyromusical show, where fireworks are synchronized to music, drawing visitors from neighboring towns.

Organized by the Madonna del Rosario Patronal Feast Committee in collaboration with the parish, the event involves local associations, schools, families, and artists.
