The great beer festival of San Michele Salentino, in the heart of Puglia
In the heart of the Alto Salento, just a few kilometers from Brindisi, the town of San Michele Salentino hosts one of the most anticipated and popular events in the province every autumn: the Oktober FeSCt. Born as a Bavarian-style beer festival and having grown year after year into a major regional attraction, the event blends the convivial spirit of the German Oktoberfest with the flavors and aromas of Apulian tradition.
The format is well-established: the festival takes place over three consecutive weekends in October, offering visitors plenty of opportunities to gather with friends. Inside a large covered structure spanning over 4,000 square meters, the public can choose from over twenty types of draft beer, selected to satisfy every palate, from light lagers to full-bodied dark ales.
Accompanying the steins is a selection of typical local gastronomy and street food: traditional Salento dishes and specialties designed for food lovers, served in a welcoming environment that remains sheltered even in case of bad weather.
Every evening, the Oktober FeSCt stage comes alive with live music from the best local bands, followed by DJ sets late into the night for those who want to dance. The event is also family-friendly: children can enjoy the colorful funfair set up for the occasion and meet the festival's friendly mascot.
Organized by the Pro Loco San Michele Salentino APS with the patronage of the Municipality, the event has become a driving force for promoting the entire territory over the years, attracting a significant number of visitors to this small town in the province of Brindisi, in Puglia. Admission is free, confirming the popular and inclusive nature of an event that has become part of the collective identity of San Michele Salentino.
Today, the Oktober FeSCt represents one of the liveliest autumn events in the Brindisi area: a mix of conviviality, good beer, genuine cuisine, and entertainment that transforms this corner of Salento into a great meeting point every October.
The 2026 edition of the Oktober FeSCt, the seventh, will be held in San Michele Salentino from October 9 to 25, 2026, confirming the three-weekend format that has ensured the event's success. The big news is the move to the Municipal Sports Field: after the lack of adequate space in the historic PIP area, the Pro Loco San Michele Salentino APS and the Municipality signed an agreement for the free use of the facility, thus avoiding the hypothesized relocation of the festival to another town.
As stated by the president of the Pro Loco, "as a Pro Loco, we never wanted to leave San Michele Salentino; this is where the event was born," while the Administration reiterated the value of the event as a "regional attraction, capable of drawing a significant number of visitors." The new venue will allow for an expanded edition, featuring draft beer, local gastronomy, live music, and entertainment for the whole family.
The detailed program of the evenings, including bands and guests, has not yet been published: it will be released by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event on the official channels.
