About Truffle Festival

In Lubriano, a small village overlooking the Valle dei Calanchi and Civita di Bagnoregio, the Truffle Festival celebrates the prized tuber of the Viterbo Tuscia region. Enjoy three evenings of traditional cuisine, entertainment, and live music at Parco G. Pistonami. The menu features truffle fettuccine, truffle eggs, pork loin, and hunter-style stew, alongside local specialties for those who prefer non-truffle alternatives. A young but already popular event, created to showcase the local woods and truffle hunters.

A young festival in the village of the badlands

The Lubriano Truffle Festival is one of the most recent and promising food and wine events in the Upper Tuscia region. Born in 2023 through the initiative of the local community, it reached its third edition in 2025, establishing itself as one of the most anticipated late-summer events in the Municipality of Lubriano, in the Province of Viterbo, Northern Lazio. The venue is Parco G. Pistonami, with its open-air amphitheater: a green space that becomes the village's living room in summer, complete with long tables, a stage, and an outdoor kitchen.

Tuscia truffles, the absolute star

The territory around Lubriano, nestled in the woods descending toward the Valle dei Calanchi and the Tiber, is prime truffle country: one of the products least known to the general public but deeply rooted in the rural economy of Viterbo. The festival was created specifically to highlight this resource and the local truffle hunters who gather it, bringing to the table an ingredient that here is not a Michelin-starred luxury, but a home-cooked staple, generously grated over traditional dishes.

What to eat

The menu, served during the festival evenings, revolves around simple and recognizable preparations of Lubriano cuisine:

  • Truffle fettuccine, the signature dish of the event, handmade
  • Fettuccine with meat sauce, for those seeking a more classic first course
  • Truffle eggs, a traditional local appetizer
  • Truffle pork loin and hunter-style stew among the main courses
  • Seasonal side dishes, homemade desserts, and wines from the Viterbo hills

Those who are not particularly fond of the strong taste of the tuber will still find various alternatives with other local dishes: the festival is designed for entire families, not just enthusiasts.

Music, shows, and atmosphere

Each evening is accompanied by live music and performances on the park stage, with local bands and groups ranging from danceable repertoires to folk music. Entry to the festival area is free, and you only pay for what you consume, with typical village festival prices; for large groups, booking via the Pro Loco numbers is recommended.

Lubriano, the balcony over Civita

Visiting the festival is also an opportunity to discover Lubriano, a village of a few hundred inhabitants perched on tuff rock, famous for its viewpoints: from the town, you can enjoy one of Italy's most photographed views of Civita di Bagnoregio, the "dying city," and the amphitheater of the badlands. In the historic center, Palazzo Monaldeschi and the Monaldeschi Tower are worth a stop, as they bear witness to the village's feudal past, along with the churches of San Giovanni Battista and Santa Maria Assunta.

A land of festivals

The Truffle Festival is part of an already lively local calendar: Lubriano has also hosted the well-known Chianina Steak Festival for years, a sign of a community accustomed to working together around the table. This, even more than the individual dish, is what the visitor takes home: the authentic, non-touristy atmosphere of a celebration made by the village volunteers.

Truffle Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Lubriano Truffle Festival does not yet have official dates. In 2025, the event was held from September 5th to 7th at Parco G. Pistonami, following an initial announcement for late August that was later rescheduled; therefore, it is likely that the event will again take place between late August and early September. Dates will be announced by the Pro Loco Lubriano in the weeks preceding the event.

2026 Edition: expected dates

As of the update of this page, the Pro Loco of Lubriano has not yet published the official dates for the next Truffle Festival. The information provided here is therefore indicative and based on the scheduling of previous editions, which have always taken place between late August and the first few days of September at Parco G. Pistonami.

The structure of the event remains confirmed — Tuscia truffle-based cuisine, alternative local dishes, live music, and performances on the park stage — as well as free entry to the area, with payment for consumption. We recommend checking the dates on the official channels of the Municipality of Lubriano and the Pro Loco before traveling.
