Farm-to-table flavors from the Pisa and Livorno hills in Piazza Don Gallo
The Local Agricultural Produce Market Exhibition is an event that brings the best of local agriculture to the square in Castellina Marittima. In the heart of this hillside village in the province of Pisa, Tuscany, the central Piazza Don Gallo fills up for a morning of stalls, aromas, and stories from the producers who work these lands between the Pisan hinterland and the nearby Livorno coast.
The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Castellina Marittima as part of the "Terre Pisano Livornesi: food and territory" project, designed to support small local farms and offer them a dedicated space to promote, share, and sell their products. It is a tangible opportunity for producers, residents, and visitors to meet, built around the idea of short supply chains and conscious consumption.
The core of the event is the market exhibition itself: a series of stalls featuring farm-to-table produce, where you can buy directly from the growers and discover the quality of agriculture in these hills, which have always been suited to wine, olive oil, and grain production. There are also spaces dedicated to wine tastings, with the participation of local wineries, alongside samples of other typical local products.
The day does not end at the stalls. The program includes a guided hike along the green paths around the village, organized by the Viaggiatori Lenti association, to discover the landscape and the ancient traces of the territory. For families, there are workshops and activities for children, with games and encounters with the animals of the educational farm, making the morning suitable for all ages.
Castellina Marittima is a small municipality of just under two thousand inhabitants, historically known for the extraction and processing of alabaster and for an economy linked to agriculture and tourism. Participating in the Market Exhibition is also a way to discover this quiet corner of the province of Pisa, halfway between the capital and the sea, and to support local agriculture made of small but authentic realities.
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, Castellina Marittima hosted a new edition of the Local Agricultural Produce Market Exhibition, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Piazza Don Gallo. The day, part of the "Terre Pisano Livornesi: food and territory" project, transformed the square into a showcase of farm-to-table products, featuring direct sales, tastings, and opportunities to meet local producers.
The event takes place in Piazza Don Gallo, in the center of Castellina Marittima (province of Pisa), on a Sunday morning, generally from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
By car: Castellina Marittima can be reached from the SS1 Aurelia (Cecina or Rosignano exit) heading inland, or from the Pisa area along the provincial roads of the Pisan hills. Parking is available near the center.
By train: the nearest stations are on the Tyrrhenian line (Cecina and Rosignano Solvay), from where you can continue by car or local transport.
Admission to the market exhibition is free. For the guided hike, booking with the Viaggiatori Lenti association is required.
