The Nativity comes to life in the streets of the village, in the heart of the Madonie Christmas
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every year, during the Christmas season, the centre of Casteldaccia comes alive with its Living Nativity, one of the most cherished events for the community of this town in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, in Sicily. The most picturesque streets and corners of the village become the natural backdrop for a grand reenactment of the Nativity, where dozens of participants bring to life scenes of Christian tradition and the daily routine of an ancient village.
The public is invited to walk through an itinerary that crosses the heart of Casteldaccia, discovering different settings along the way: the Holy Family in the manger, the shepherds, the Three Wise Men, and the workshops of ancient trades. Carpenters, bakers, spinners, and farmers recreate the gestures of the past, reflecting the image of a rural Sicilian community that revolves around the rhythms of the land and religious festivities.
The Living Nativity is not just a performance: it is a moment of gathering where the entire village meets to celebrate the spirit of Christmas together. Amidst lit braziers, soft lighting, and the scents of local products, visitors enjoy an immersive experience that engages both adults and children. The event, set in the heart of Casteldaccia, thus becomes a true hub of social life for the village and the surrounding municipalities.
Located along the Tyrrhenian coast east of Palermo, between the sea and the first hills of the hinterland, Casteldaccia is also known for its winemaking tradition. The Living Nativity represents one of the events that best tells the popular and religious identity of the village, fitting into the rich calendar of living nativities that, during Advent, animate numerous towns in the province of Palermo and throughout Sicily.
The 2026 edition of the Living Nativity of Casteldaccia does not yet have an official date announced. The event, which in previous years has taken place in the village centre during the Christmas period, is expected to be held again in 2026. As soon as the calendar, times, and final programme are communicated, this page will be updated.
