About LericiPea Award

In the Gulf of Poets, where poetry has been at home for centuries, lies one of Italy's most prestigious literary awards. The LericiPea International Award, founded in 1954, annually recognizes the best voices in Italian and international poetry. Between Lerici and La Spezia, the ceremony and meetings celebrate the poetic word, in a tradition that has seen great names of the 20th century among its winners.

A Historic Poetry Award

The LericiPea Golfo dei Poeti International Award is one of Italy's most important and long-standing literary accolades. Founded in 1954, it has linked its name to that of the Gulf of Poets — the stretch of coast between Lerici and La Spezia that inspired Shelley, Byron, and many others — celebrating the best poetic production each year.

Award Sections

The award is divided into several sections, including the Published Works section, dedicated to published poetry collections. A technical jury of critics and poets selects the finalists and the winner, with a prestigious committee chaired by the poet Giuseppe Conte.

A Tradition of the Gulf of Poets

Organized by the LericiPea Association, the award has recognized leading voices in Italian poetry since its inception — Giorgio Caproni was honored as early as 1954. The ceremony, held between Lerici and La Spezia during the summer, confirms the deep connection of this territory with culture and the poetic word.

LericiPea Award — edition 2026

For the 2026 edition of the LericiPea Award, the Published Works section has identified three finalists: Azzurra D'Agostino with "Cosmic latte" (Marcos y Marcos), Alessandro Fo with "Luci e eclissi" (Einaudi), and Giuseppe Grattacaso with "Dei vertebrati, degli invertebrati" (Interno Poesia).

The technical jury, chaired by Giuseppe Conte, includes Massimo Bacigalupo, Manuel Cohen, Francesco Napoli, Davide Rondoni, and Stefano Verdino. The award ceremony will be held during the summer between Lerici and La Spezia.
