About LeMie Montagne

LeMie Montagne is a festival celebrating the mountains in Lemie, a small village in the Val di Viù, part of the Valli di Lanzo near Turin. Launched in 2025 through a collaboration between the local Pro Loco, the Valli di Lanzo in Verticale group, and the CAI Val di Viù, the event blends rock climbing, guided hikes, nature, and valley traditions. It features free climbing lessons, treks to local crags, and a traditional 'merenda sinoira' that highlights the village's deep bond with its surrounding peaks.

A mountain festival in Lemie

In the heart of the Val di Viù, one of the three Valli di Lanzo, the small village of Lemie (Province of Turin, Piedmont, at an altitude of approximately 960 meters) hosts LeMie Montagne, a day entirely dedicated to the mountains, high-altitude sports, and the rediscovery of the alpine landscape. The name itself is an affectionate play on words: "le mie montagne" (my mountains), those belonging to the locals, and "LeMie" as the name of the village that guards them.

The event was born in 2025 from the desire of local associations to refocus attention on a valley rich in rock faces, trails, and alpine heritage. The concept is simple yet powerful: to showcase Lemie and the Val di Viù through sport, nature, and a love for the mountains, welcoming families, hikers, and climbers of all levels.

Sport, nature, and community

The program offers activities for everyone: free climbing lessons for adults and children led by instructors from the Scuola di Alpinismo Ribaldone, guided hikes organized by the CAI Val di Viù toward the valley's crags and mountain pastures, and nature discovery sessions. The day traditionally concludes with a merenda sinoira, the hearty Piedmontese evening snack that brings participants and locals together in a convivial atmosphere.

Organizers

LeMie Montagne is the result of a collaboration between the Pro Loco of Lemie, the Valli di Lanzo in Verticale group (which brings together the Club Alpino Accademico Italiano and the CAI Turin and UGET Turin sections), the Scuola di Alpinismo Ribaldone, and the CAI Val di Viù sub-section, with the support of the Grado Plato craft brewery. It is a concrete example of how local associations in a small mountain village can create an event capable of attracting visitors from across the Metropolitan City of Turin.

Why it's worth attending

More than just a sports gathering, LeMie Montagne is an opportunity to experience the Val di Viù firsthand: try your hand at real rock climbing, walk trails through waterfalls and beech forests, listen to local stories, and taste regional flavors. It is a day designed for those seeking slow, authentic tourism deeply rooted in the alpine identity of the Valli di Lanzo.

LeMie Montagne — edition 2026

The second edition of LeMie Montagne took place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Lemie, Val di Viù. Following the success of its 2025 debut, the day returned with the screening of the documentary "I custodi delle terre alte", a tribute to local resident and climber Mario Aires, and the traditional merenda sinoira, confirming a formula that blends mountains, culture, and community.

The second edition of LeMie Montagne was held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Lemie, reviving the spirit that made the previous year's debut so special. The event reaffirmed the commitment of Pro Loco Lemie, Valli di Lanzo in Verticale, and CAI Val di Viù to promoting the valley through sport and alpine culture.

The central moment was an appointment with strong identity value, capable of weaving together images, memory, and conviviality in the heart of the Valli di Lanzo.
