About Lavis fa Storie

For an entire weekend, the historic center of Lavis, in Trentino, turns into a vast, open-air storybook. Lavis fa Storie — Fantasy Festival is a cultural event dedicated to children and families, featuring contemporary theater and circus performances, itinerant storytelling, immersive installations, creative workshops, and read-aloud sessions. Streets, squares, and courtyards become the stage for a widespread, free-admission program designed to let young and old experience the wonder of stories together.

A festival dedicated to stories and imagination

Lavis fa Storie — Fantasy Festival is the cultural event that brings the historic center of Lavis, a town in the Piana Rotaliana area in the province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige, to life every spring. For two and a half days, the town transforms into a large, widespread narrative: streets, squares, and courtyards host shows, storytelling, workshops, and readings designed for children, teenagers, and families. The goal is both simple and ambitious: to restore the power of stories to bring people together, stimulate imagination, and turn urban spaces into places of shared wonder.

Theater, circus, storytelling, and installations

The program brings together over twenty-five events concentrated into just over two days. Alongside contemporary theater and circus performances, there are itinerant storytelling sessions, immersive installations, and creative workshops aimed at even the youngest children, starting from the zero-to-three age group. Read-aloud sessions, live painting, and musical moments complete a multidisciplinary lineup that balances intimate experiences with participatory activities.

  • Il bambino orso (The Bear Child) by the Molino Rosenkranz company: a circle-storytelling session inside a yurt, where small groups of adults and children listen to stories sitting side by side.
  • Arcipelago by Teatro Telaio: an international sensory experience made of small tents that children can explore freely.
  • Wooden games along Via Roma, creative workshops, and animated readings scattered throughout the alleys of the center.

A festival built with the community

A distinctive feature of Lavis fa Storie is its strong local roots. The event is conceived and organized by the Associazione Birba of Assisi — the same group that has curated the "Birba chi legge — Festa delle Storie" festival since 2018 — under the artistic direction of Alessandra Comparozzi and in collaboration with the Municipality of Lavis, the municipal library, and numerous local associations. Volunteers, readers, civil service groups, and local associations contribute to workshops and activities, while school children themselves are involved during the festival days.

A spring appointment in the heart of the Piana Rotaliana

Located among the vineyards of the Piana Rotaliana and just a few kilometers from Trento, the festival has become, in just a few editions, a reference point for families in Trentino looking for a high-quality event dedicated to childhood. Admission is free: some activities have limited capacity and require booking. It is an opportunity to discover Lavis, its historic center, and its tradition of hospitality, letting yourself be guided from story to story between squares and courtyards.

Lavis fa Storie — edition 2026

The third edition of Lavis fa Storie took place from April 10 to 12, 2026, bringing the historic center of Lavis to life with over twenty-five events over two and a half days. A widespread, free program dedicated to children and families, featuring contemporary theater and circus performances, itinerant storytelling, immersive installations, creative workshops, and read-aloud sessions.

Third edition: April 10-12, 2026

From April 10 to 12, 2026, Lavis fa Storie — Fantasy Festival returned for its third edition, transforming the streets, squares, and courtyards of the center of Lavis into a large, widespread storybook. Over twenty-five events concentrated into two and a half days offered contemporary theater and circus performances, itinerant storytelling, immersive installations, and creative workshops aimed at even the youngest children, from zero to three years old.

Among the most anticipated moments were Il bambino orso by the Molino Rosenkranz company, a circle-storytelling session inside a yurt, and Arcipelago by Teatro Telaio, an international sensory experience with twenty small tents explorable by children. The 2026 edition strengthened the involvement of local associations, with the opening entrusted to the town's primary school classes and the participation of volunteers, readers, and civil service groups.
