Christmas festivities in the historic center of Nave San Rocco

Christmas in the Village is the series of holiday events that every year brings Nave San Rocco to life—a village within the municipality of Terre d'Adige, in the province of Trento, in the heart of the Rotaliana plain and the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Born from the collaboration between the local Pro Loco and village associations, the event accompanies the community throughout the festive season, from early December until Epiphany, with a program rooted in tradition, spirituality, and conviviality.
The festival was born from a desire to gather and celebrate the most authentic meaning of Christmas together. There are no grand, spectacular displays, but rather simple and sincere moments that weave together the religious traditions and gestures of solidarity typical of Trentino culture. The streets and squares of the historic center become a meeting place where families, children, and the elderly gather around the rituals that mark Advent and the Christmas season.
The heart of the festival is Piazza San Rocco, which hosts the Sunday morning Holy Masses, followed by the sharing of tea, mulled wine, and coffee to warm up during the cold winter days. Among the most cherished events is the Saint Lucy festival, featuring the characteristic procession and lantern walk that winds through the village streets, ending with a snack in the gym—an event highly anticipated by the little ones.
The final and most evocative moment is the living nativity scene on Epiphany, January 6th, preceded by the blessing of the children in church. Costumed actors and Nativity scenes bring the atmosphere of Christmas to life in the historic center, offering residents and visitors a touching representation that concludes the holiday period.
Nave San Rocco is a small rural village overlooking the Adige river, north of Trento, once an ancient river port. Since 2019, it has been part of the new municipality of Terre d'Adige, along with Zambana. The Christmas festival represents an important part of local community life and an opportunity to experience the hospitality and traditions of this corner of the Piana Rotaliana, in Trentino-Alto Adige.
At the moment, the official dates for the 2026-2027 edition of Christmas in the Village in Nave San Rocco have not yet been published. The festival, organized by the Pro Loco and local associations in the municipality of Terre d'Adige, is usually held between the beginning of December and January 6th. The program will be updated as soon as it is released by the organizers.
The events take place in the historic center of Nave San Rocco, a village in the municipality of Terre d'Adige (TN), mainly in Piazza San Rocco, at the church, the nursery school, and the village gym.
Nave San Rocco is located north of Trento, along the Adige river, in the Piana Rotaliana. It can be reached by car from the road connecting Lavis and Zambana; the nearest motorway exit is San Michele all'Adige/Mezzocorona on the A22 Brenner motorway.
All events are free to attend.
