A month of events celebrating blossoms, wild herbs, and rustic flavors in Lana
Lana blüht (in English Lana in Bloom) is the annual festival that accompanies the awakening of nature throughout the month of April in the municipality of Lana, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. Nestled among vast apple orchards that turn into a sea of white blossoms in spring, the Lana region transforms this time of year into a long celebration dedicated to flowers, wild herbs, and rustic flavors.
From April 1st to 30th, the program features guided hikes through blooming orchards, walks to discover wild herbs, creative workshops, themed conferences, and special dinners in local restaurants, where chefs reinterpret spring cuisine using flowers and aromatic herbs. The main events are concentrated on weekends, attracting visitors from across the region and beyond.
The highlight of the festival is the Bäuerliche Genussmeile, the "rustic culinary trail" that enlivens the pedestrian center of Lana. Along the town streets, over fifty farmers and producers set up their stalls, offering farm specialties, local products, and seasonal dishes accompanied by a selection of South Tyrolean wines. It is the perfect opportunity to get to know local agriculture and taste the region's finest products.
Another iconic event is the Blütenhöfefest, the Farm Blossom Festival: on a Sunday in April, historic farms and ancient residences open their doors to the public in Lana and the neighboring villages of Foiana/Völlan and Cermes/Tscherms. Visitors can walk along marked trails through blooming apple orchards or use free shuttles to discover the history, craftsmanship, and rural life of these places while tasting products made on the farms.
The festival traditionally opens with a golf tournament among the blooming apple orchards, marking the start of the new season with a spring menu served directly on the green. The main events are complemented by botanical walks, wild herb workshops, and culinary offerings that make Lana blüht one of the most charming events in the South Tyrolean spring.
In 2026, Lana blüht returned to color the month of April in the municipality of Lana, South Tyrol. The program opened on Saturday, April 11, with the traditional golf tournament among the blooming apple orchards, followed on Saturday, April 18, by the Bäuerliche Genussmeile: from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, over fifty farmers and producers enlivened the pedestrian center with farm specialties, local products, and South Tyrolean wines. On Sunday, April 26, the Blütenhöfefest (Farm Blossom Festival) took place, with historic farms open to the public between Lana, Foiana/Völlan, and Cermes/Tscherms. Throughout the month, there were guided hikes through blooming orchards, walks to discover wild herbs, workshops, and spring menus in local restaurants.
Lana is located just a few kilometers from Merano, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. By car, take the Bolzano South exit from the A22 Brenner motorway, then continue along the MeBo (Merano-Bolzano expressway) to the Lana exit. By train, the reference stations are Bolzano or Merano, which are connected to Lana by local bus lines.
