The De.C.O. dish festival of Serravalle di Carda, on Monte Nerone
The Lamb Giblets Festival takes place in Serravalle di Carda, a small hamlet in the Municipality of Apecchio, in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. The village is located at the foot of Monte Nerone, one of the most striking peaks of the Marche Apennines, and every year, on the third weekend of July, it animates its small square with a festival entirely dedicated to a dish of local peasant tradition.
Lamb giblets (coradella d'agnello) is a humble and ancient dish, prepared with lamb offal (specifically heart, lungs, and liver) cooked according to recipes passed down from generation to generation. It is served with cooked herbs and crescia, the typical Marche flatbread. In May 2022, the Serravalle di Carda lamb giblets received the Municipal Designation of Origin (De.C.O. n. 03) recognition from the Municipality of Apecchio, attesting to the deep connection between this dish and the gastronomic identity of the territory. It was precisely from this recognition that the idea for the festival was born.
The event, organized by the Pro Loco Serravalle di Carda e Monte Nerone, spans two days. On Saturday evening, the food stalls open for dinner, while on Sunday, they open at noon and continue until the evening. In addition to the lamb giblets, local cooks offer other typical local dishes, all accompanied by live music, exhibitions, and entertainment.
The Lamb Giblets Festival is also an opportunity to discover Serravalle di Carda and the Apecchio area, a land of mushrooms, truffles, and craft beer, immersed in the nature of Monte Nerone. An authentic festival, far from mass tourism, where conviviality and gastronomic tradition remain the protagonists.
The Lamb Giblets Festival returns to Serravalle di Carda (Apecchio, PU) on Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, 2026, in the village's central square. The dates are confirmed by the Municipality of Apecchio's events calendar; the event is organized by the Pro Loco Serravalle di Carda e Monte Nerone.
The absolute star remains the lamb giblets, De.C.O. dish no. 03 of the Municipality of Apecchio, served with cooked herbs and crescia, along with other local culinary specialties.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including musical groups and timings, will be announced by the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event on their official channels.
Based on previous editions, the usual structure of the festival includes:
