Two days of cosplay, gaming, and pop culture in the historic center of Anagni
Lamaland Cosplay & Games is the festival dedicated to cosplay, gaming, and nerd culture that brings the historic center of Anagni, in the province of Frosinone, to life every spring in the heart of the Ciociaria region. Organized by the cultural association Lama Forevent (the group behind Lama Cosplay), the event turns the squares of the City of Popes into a vast open-air space where fans of all ages gather among costumes, video games, anime, comics, and music. Launched in 2024, it has rapidly grown into one of the most awaited pop culture events in Central Italy.
The festival takes place between Piazza Cavour and Piazza Innocenzo III, in the medieval historic center of Anagni. Piazza Cavour hosts the core of the event: the gaming area with tournaments, the main stage, photo sets designed as immersive scenery, stands for artists, illustrators, and pop culture creators, as well as workshops designed for both beginners and experienced cosplayers.
The Cosplay Contest is the most anticipated moment of the entire festival: contestants from all over Italy parade on stage with costumes and performances that are the result of months of hard work. Alongside the adult competition, a special space is dedicated to children in a non-competitive format. The gaming area offers tournaments and challenges for players of all levels, while the Entertainment Area also features medieval-themed games, in harmony with the city's historic setting.
The program alternates live performances, quizzes, and discussion panels. Highlights among the guests and shows include the cartoon band, the musical project featuring violin, the K-Pop Contest, and the animation-themed quiz show. Great attention is paid to themes of inclusion and social connection, with panels and meetings such as "It's not a costume, it's a conversation" and "Cosplay as a family – Generations compared." The association also promotes social projects focused on listening and anti-bullying, making Lamaland, first and foremost, a community.
Hosting a pop culture festival among the medieval alleys of Anagni has a unique charm: the city, famous for the Palace of Boniface VIII and the stunning Cosmatesque floor of the Cathedral, offers a backdrop where, as the organizers love to say, "History meets Fantasy." The event, which is free to attend, contributes every year to the tourism promotion of the area and the local economy, attracting thousands of visitors to southern Lazio.
With the 2026 edition, Lamaland Cosplay & Games made a major leap forward, doubling its duration from a single day to an entire weekend. The historic center of Anagni, in the province of Frosinone, welcomed fans of cosplay, video games, and nerd culture with an expanded program of contests, tournaments, shows, and meetings, confirming its status as one of the most popular pop culture events in Central Italy.
The heart of the event was Piazza Cavour, joined by Piazza Innocenzo III, featuring gaming areas, photo sets, artist stands, and workshops.
Anagni is located in southern Lazio, in the province of Frosinone. By car: take the Anagni-Fiuggi exit on the A1 Rome-Naples motorway, then follow signs for the historic center. By train: Anagni-Fiuggi station on the Rome-Cassino line, connected to the center by a bus service.
Admission is free. The event takes place over two days, Saturday and Sunday. Some contests and tournaments may require advance registration via the organization's social media channels.
The historic center is pedestrianized and partially uphill: comfortable shoes are recommended. A food area with themed offerings is available.
