About Laas Annual Market

The Laas Annual Market is a series of traditional markets that bring the center of Laas, in the heart of the Vinschgau Valley in South Tyrol, to life. Several times a year, from spring to autumn, Vinschgaustraße fills with stalls offering clothing, homeware, flowers, plants, and local gastronomic specialties. The October market, paired with the famous Laaser Krautwochen (Laas Cabbage Weeks), is the most popular and turns into a true village festival with music and great food.

The Laas Annual Market, a Vinschgau tradition

The Laas Annual Market (Jahresmarkt Laas) brings together the traditional annual markets that mark the calendar of Laas, the famous "marble village" in the lower Vinschgau Valley, in the Province of Bolzano and the Trentino-Alto Adige region. It is not a single event, but a series of market days that, from spring to autumn, bring street vendors, artisans, and local producers to the town center.

Where and how it takes place

The market is held along Vinschgaustraße, the main street in the heart of the village, traditionally from 8:00 AM to approximately 2:00 PM. The stalls offer an assortment typical of major South Tyrolean markets:

  • clothing, textiles, and household linens;
  • kitchen and homeware items;
  • flowers, plants, and gardening supplies;
  • gastronomic specialties and typical products from the Vinschgau Valley.

Attendance is free and open to the public, with no registration required.

The autumn market and the Krautwochen

The most anticipated event is the October market, which in Laas is intertwined with the Laaser Krautwochen, the Cabbage Weeks: a festival dedicated to the local cabbage and cabbage-based recipes, with local restaurants serving traditional dishes. On this occasion, the market is enriched with local products, music, and entertainment, becoming a true popular festival that attracts visitors from all over the valley.

Laas, the village of white marble

The annual markets take place in a fascinating setting: Laas is known worldwide for its precious white marble, which is also the star of the summer "Marmor & Marillen" (Marble and Apricots) festival. Visiting the annual market is therefore also an opportunity to discover a village with a strong Vinschgau identity, amidst farming traditions, craftsmanship, and mountain landscapes.

An event for the whole community

Like many traditional South Tyrolean markets, the Laas Annual Market is a meeting point for the inhabitants of the Municipality of Laas and the nearby villages in the Silandro-Laas area, as well as an opportunity for tourists and hikers to experience the authentic atmosphere of an alpine village market.
