The night run on the white roads of Peccioli
The Notte dei Giganti - Eco Run is one of the most beloved and photogenic sporting events in Tuscany. Every year, at the beginning of June, the village of Peccioli, in the Province of Pisa, lights up to welcome hundreds of runners who race at sunset along the strade bianche (white gravel roads) of the Peccioli countryside. As darkness falls, the participants' headlamps create a long, enchanting trail of light across the hills: this is the iconic image of an event that perfectly combines sport, landscape, and atmosphere.
The event takes its name from the Giants of Peccioli, the massive fiberglass and concrete sculptures that populate the municipality and have made it a landmark for contemporary open-air art. The race starts right at the foot of one of these colossi, in the Fonte Mazzola Amphitheatre, a scenic space nestled in the greenery. Peccioli, repeatedly awarded as one of Italy's most virtuous villages, provides the ideal backdrop for a race that is also a journey into its cultural identity.
The Eco Run offers three tracks, all entirely on unpaved roads, designed for both competitive athletes and those who prefer a more relaxed experience:
All routes start from the Fonte Mazzola Amphitheatre and finish on the spectacular cantilevered terrace of Palazzo Senza Tempo, in the historic center, overlooking the Valdera valley.
The Notte dei Giganti is more than just a race: it is a village festival. After the race, the entire historic center comes alive with a pasta party through the streets of the village, a convivial dinner offered to participants that rounds off the evening with music and toasts. In recent years, the event has sold out, with over a thousand registered participants, confirming its status as a major draw for runners from all over Tuscany and beyond. The event is organized by 1063AD, with the support of the Pro Loco of Peccioli and the Municipality.
The 8th edition of the Notte dei Giganti - Eco Run was held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Peccioli. The format on white gravel roads was confirmed with three routes (14 km competitive, 10 km and 7 km recreational), starting from the Fonte Mazzola Amphitheatre and finishing at Palazzo Senza Tempo. The edition saw great participation, with over 900 runners already confirmed in the weeks prior, and concluded with the traditional pasta party in the historic center.
