The agri-festival of wine, music, and culture in the heart of the Colline Alfieri
In the heart of the Asti Monferrato, La Barbera Incontra is one of the most awaited events of the year in San Damiano d'Asti, in the Province of Asti, Piedmont. For four days, the historic center comes alive with an agri-festival that weaves together the region's signature wine, Barbera, with great music, comedy, art, and gastronomy. The event was born to highlight the Colline Alfieri and Terre Alfieri, a land of vineyards and winemaking tradition, and over the years it has grown to attract an audience from all over Piedmont and beyond.
The festival is a journey through the town's squares. The Eno Zone in Piazza Libertà, curated by the Enoteca Regionale Colline Alfieri, is the realm of tastings: here you can sample local labels, from Barbera to Terre Alfieri wines, in the company of producers and sommeliers. Piazza Alfieri hosts the food area, featuring Piedmontese specialties and street food, while the streets of the center are lined with a market for crafts and local products. Completing the experience is the main concert arena in Piazza 1275, where the biggest names on the musical lineup perform.
Alongside wine and music, La Barbera Incontra gives ample space to culture. The BarberArt exhibition-competition, reaching its tenth edition in 2026, involves students and adult artists in a theme linked to the identity of the territory and Barbera wine. There are also talks, book presentations, and creative and musical workshops designed for children, making the festival a truly all-ages event.
Organized by the Municipality of San Damiano d'Asti in collaboration with the Enoteca Regionale Colline Alfieri, the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato, and Confesercenti Asti, La Barbera Incontra is much more than a food festival: it is the way an entire community shares its gastronomic and cultural identity. Most events offer free admission, a choice that makes the festival an accessible opportunity to discover Barbera and the soul of the Asti hills.
From June 11 to 14, 2026, San Damiano d'Asti hosted the eleventh edition of La Barbera Incontra, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by the municipal administration and the opening of the Eno Zone and the BarberArt exhibition. Four days packed with events across Piazza Libertà, Piazza Alfieri, and the Piazza 1275 arena, drawing visitors from all over Piedmont.
Musical highlights included a free concert by Gaia and paid shows by Fedez and Il Pagante, alongside techno sets and comedy from Gianluca Impastato, Gli Autogol, and Maria Pia Timo. The event also featured sports, children's workshops, and the tenth edition of the BarberArt competition.
The festival takes place in the historic center of San Damiano d'Asti (Province of Asti), across Piazza Libertà, Piazza Alfieri, and Piazza 1275.
San Damiano d'Asti can be reached by car from the A21 Turin-Piacenza motorway (Asti Ovest exit) and via the state road. The town has a train station on the Asti-Alba/Genoa line, convenient for those arriving by train.
Most events, tastings, and shows are free to attend. Some headline concerts require a paid ticket available in advance.
